It most definitely has. Before, I could purchase a figure here and there if I thought is was cool for my shelves. But now, I am sticking to just superheroes and even then I am being very picky. I am scared to think how much the HT Hulk will be.
I find it odd that today $200-ish is a ridulous slap in the face price, but two months to a few weeks ago $215 for Captain America and $220 for P2 is okay let alone Joker for $275 without major complaints about the prices being too high
There was a line, but people have freely stepped over that line on more than one occasion leading HT to increase that line across all licenses based on it's customers spending habits.
If people lap up these $215+ figures, why should HT feel the need to charge below $200 for others?
Increased prices are an issue, but from hot toys point of view, they are being indirectly told by their customers that they're willing to pay over $200 for a bunch of figures, so they don't feel the need to charge less for others.
I'm finally done collecting HT.
It is actually a relief.
For the most part yes. I can still afford to buy what I want, but what I'm finding is that I don't want to spend that much. Avengers Loki is an awesome looking figure, but I have a hard time reconciling in my mind spending $220 on an action figure that's going to sit on a shelf.
Anybody that spends $220 on an action figure that's going to sit on a shelf would be better off spending the money on a good psychiatrist to find out why a grown man would spend that kind of money on an over priced action figure that only cost Hot Toys $25 - $40 to manufacture.
