Just remember, if you didn't want ANY of Hasbro's 12" figures, Sideshow's Ark ends up being cheaper. $20 X 4 for Hasbro figures + $10 shipping = $90! Sideshow's is only $70 plus $100 for Thot.

But then again, if you don't want Thot (you're crazy) then Hasbro's is cheaper overall.

Either way, I'm getting both. Hasbro's is just a place holder right now.

Well, I bought a set of 4 certificates off ebay for $30 shipped, then sent $10 in with them for the Ark. So I didn't have to buy ANY of those Hasbro POS figures! :monkey5

I'm glad that Hasbro decided to extend the offer for it. QUOTE]

I'm sure that was an easy decision once they looked and realized how many they still had instock...the ark I mean.
I know Indy is popular, but a large enough collector population does not exist that can support a kid targeted toy line. How many kids know about the ark and how many kids can convince their parents to buy four figures and then send another ten bucks for the ark?

Here's my Ark with Sideshow's Indy:

Very nice picture Billy Ray!

I agree that kids now are likely really NOT to know what the Ark of the Covenant was. Unless they go to Sunday school in church, and have heard about it.

I'm just happy I'll be getting one. Yeah, I pre-ordered the exclusive Toht with the nicer polystone Ark last night. So I also agree that the Hasbro Ark is a "place holder" until the better Sideshow polystone one comes out with Toht. I'm getting both too. The Hasbro and Sideshow Arks. :D

Yeah, the Hasbro 12" Indy line sadly is one big pile of ^^^^^! I gave them the benefit of the doubt, but all I could use from that line was the Mutt Williams head sculpt and outfit that I immediately put on to a better Dragon body after I got him.

I sent my certificates off on May 19th and the Ark arrived July 21st. So, for me, it was 9 weeks from when I actually dropped it in the mail. It's possible that the process may have been sped up a bit since then, but I kinda doubt it.

Honestly, as impressive as the Toht Exclusive is, I really do think I prefer the visual impact you get from the reflective surface of the Hasbro Ark...

Apologies for the crap flash photo (not to mention the overall set-up...Indy just arrived today and I don't think he's held the same pose for more than an hour or so...) but I really do think it's a nice looking piece. I'll have no problem picking up my Toht from another retailer.

I was wondering how you got your cherubim to shine. They seem dull on mine. Nice set up by the way.

It was a terrible set-up, but thank you. Thankfully, it's already been altered.

Anyway, the cherubim shine can be attributed to that big ol' halogen lightbulb shining directly above it. That's it. It's just your standard Hasbro-issue Ark. The same one in Post #1, Picture #1 of this very thread.

Hi "The Boot". Does the Hasbro Ark come inside that Indiana Jones crate box that is under your Ark? I hope so. I'd like to get that Indy crate box too. Please let me know here. Thanks!

By the way, your Ark does look great shining under that light! I think I'll do that with mine when I get it in. I'm mailing off my redemption card for it tomorrow.

It does come in that box. Oddly, it's the only box it comes in; There isn't any kind of basic outer shipping carton or anything. The mailing label is just slapped on the cardboard crate.

I'd like it a whole lot more if it didn't have that big "Indiana Jones" logo on the side, but it's still a decent enough place to rest your Ark in a pinch.

Oh boy. It only comes in that box? :horror Wow, now I'm worried! You'd think Hasbro could spring for one outer cardboard box to put over that Indy "crate" box. Since the cost of this Ark ends up being almost $100.00! That concerns me. Was your Ark damaged in any way "The Boot"? It doesn't look like it is from your picture. What about the "crate box"? Any damage in shipping to you?

It seems that Hasbro went the cheap route in mailing the Ark in ONLY the "crate box". Wow.

I mailed my redemption card to them a few days ago. I guess I'll get mine sometime in January or maybe even February 2009?

Yup, I'd say January or February would be a good guess...

Anyway, inside the shipping crate, the Ark is encased in one of those molded plastic shell thingys...kind of like the 12" Sideshow figure packaging, but thicker. Maybe "wider" is a better way to phrase it. Either way, it has plenty of protection and it should arrive in pretty good shape.

There may be a few issues with the vac-metal plating, though. It's entirely possible that you might find an imperfection or two (or three), but as I said in July, the overall brilliance of the gleaming final product more than makes up for it. You probably won't even notice the "flaws" right away. Even when I discovered them on mine, I found that I could just turn the thing around and hide the imperfections.

The crate, on the other hand...the crate will probably arrive with some damage....it is, after all, just cardboard. That being said, the creases and dents that may occur seem to blend into the simulated wood grain of the crate. I hardly notice them when on display. One could even argue that they add to the "realism" of the piece.

If you've got one coming, rest easy. I'd be willing to bet that you'll be more than pleased when it shows up at your door.

Thanks for your reassurance. I appreciate it! I am hoping for a safe arrival to my Ark. I have a new friend I met online that has made some better cheub angels, and railings for it. So I will likely replace them with those he made. It's good to hear that there's something inside the crate box to protect the Ark. I'll let you know when my Ark gets here. Thanks again! Take care. --- Mike

got my ark today, i won off ebay, it's a beautiful piece of plastic art.

Has anyone seen the Ark business card holder by Gentle Giant? Is it 1/6 scale (the descriptions say it's 5"x5"x8")? It may be a good alternative to the Hasbro and exclusive Toht, although it doesn't have the brackets for the poles or the poles.

In the UK I got a couple of Arks inside padded envelopes, and another one inside a cardboard box. But, all of them came in a white mailer box, not a crate. The only Indy mailaway that came in a crate box was the Adventure Heroes horse.

When did you get these Arks? I'm wondering if maybe they've abandoned the crates in favor of a cheaper alternative. If that's the case (no pun, of course), I'm glad I got mine early...the crate makes for a nice addition to the display.

I still want the "crate box". I was just hoping that Hasbro sent it out inside another outer box to protect it. Since I'm on the later end of the shipment of them, I don't know how I'll get mine in a few months. Either way is fine, as long as I get it intact, and not broken, or damaged. :D

In the last few months. I think it's just a UK thing.
