I tried getting a second one today but it seems like the workers were briefed on the street date. I tried three different Targets, but sadly I didn't have any luck. I'll either try tomorrow night with a worker I know or wait in the morning on the 16th.

In the meantime, I opened mine up because I wanted to play with him so badly. :lol I used a bit of plastic polish on his helmet to make it a li'l bit shinier; I have a habit of doing that with all my Vaders.

I noticed that they painted parts of his mask a dark silver tone to simulate how light hit his mask in 'da movie. Cool touch, Hasbro!

(Pics in spoilers because I didn't want to flood the page)

I love him. He's great. My only problem is that his arms & legs feel a bit loose; I was going to boil some water, but I'm not sure which exact spots need attention. I tried pressing down on his crotch to see that would work, but it didn't seem to tighten anything. Anyone here know where the problem is?

If it's the elbows and knees you can try the nail polish trick.

If it's the shoulders and hips you should be more careful because there's usually 2 joints there.

Yeah, when I stand him up his legs slide apart a little bit. It's hard to pose him without a "drunk" stance.

What's the nail polish trick?

It's easy; you apply a drop of nail polish (or glue) on whatever joint you want to tighten, and slowly move the joint until the nail polish dries, and this tightens the joint.

In case it's glue you have to be careful to not stop movie the joint or it will stick in one position.

There are many tutorials, this is just one random example.

Oh sweet, thank you so much! I probably won't be using superglue because I'm a wuss, but I'll definitely be looking into some of that product in the above video.

His joints seem to be most similar to that Green Ranger figure the guy fixed.

Too bad they didn't make these carded figures in collector friendly packaging I know there was no such thing back then, but still

It's like you don't want to ruin the package by opening the figures :thud:
I was thinking the same as I browsed the thread. There's so much emphasis/purpose to the package here that I really would have thought/hoped they would have put some R and D into a way to collector friendly them up, especially considering that Hasbro pretty much mainstreamed the collector friendly boxes for mass market figures.

I can't stop tinkering around with this guy. :lol

I came up with an idea - If you're like me and only intend on picking up a couple figures from this line, the connectable stands Vader comes with work as pretty slick bases for the individual figures.

You could probably get Han's iconic blaster pose, too.

It looks pretty nice, apart from the big plastic tab on the side for connecting them; it doesn't bother me too much tho.

Something about this Vader sculpt somehow captures the onscreen ANH Vader helmet better than the HT ANH 1/6 figure does, even despite much less detail and limitations of the 6" scale.

Nice pics!

Very friendly Target lady took the DCPI off my phone and put it into her little motion detector then went in the back for me. Unfortunately, somebody must have beat me because there was no Artoo but I got a Leia (they also had 2x Luke and Ben, who I'm not re-buying for packaging). One to go...well, two including R5.

I was able to snag a second one to keep new. I accidentally left the DCPI at home, but the worker who helped me said "oh, wait!" and pulled up Brickseek on her phone.

I went to target, equipped with the DCPI and the worker went and got me a Vader from the back. In fact, he actually brought out two so I could inspect them both and see which one had the better paint. I really like the figure. It looks even better in person.

The biggest downside is that, as usual, Hasbro included way too much material in the cape. Both the cape and the tunic are too long and the cape is pretty unruly. I used a few clips to try and shape the cape a little better and may trim some off the bottom to make it shorter. I hope the the guy on eBay makes an attempt at a nicely tailored cape. On the upside, Hasbro used an excellent material for the cape. Everything else about the figure is great. The helmet isn't perfect but it looks way better than anything Hasbro has produced and better than the current MAFEX and Figurarts. The helmet seems to be a tad to big, but that isn't a big deal. At least it doesn't have a tiny dome, which seems to be the problem with most Vader figures.

It looks awesome - can't wait to grab this guy.

The only issue to me in looking at all the pics is the chest box seems noticeably too big, especially the "coin slots" being oversized and too far apart.

In person, the chestbox looks way too big. It is even more noticeable in person than in the photos.
