Yeah, I don't understand why they haven't been able to do a good Jabba either. But then again, I own literally every Jabba figure and statue ever released (with a couple of exceptions), and they're all over the place in terms of the likeness. I think his likeness is harder to capture than it looks. And of course Lucas's various CGI Jabbas have only muddied the waters.

Admittedly, many pieces aren't really going for realism, but only a handful have even gotten close. The Sideshow figure is the best overall, but the Micro Machines Jabba the Hutt Transforming Action Set is a really good sculpt as well. I'm really hoping that we get the definitive Jabba this time, since this could very well be the last ROTJ Jabba figure we get in this scale.

I agree that it's likely to be the last shot, at least for some time, on Jabba from ROTJ, we've only gotten 2 out of Kenner/Hasbro and I really wonder if we'd have gotten Ultra Jabba if they didn't have the glob to recycle.

Looks like Jabba will be a Walmart Exclusive, wish the box had a picture of Jabba himself and not cartoon artwork, but at least it's confirmation he's coming, the whole throne's part of it and there's a new Oola included. I just hope the posable tail's handled well, and hopefully he fairly well resembles the box art.

Careful... the artist that did the artwork for the new line of packaging actually sometimes posts here. ;)

I'm not knocking the art, I'm just dying to see the toy. Despite having and loving the Sideshow Jabba setup, I really want an ultimate, proper Jabba from Hasbro, and I'm putting all my hope in this one, especially since it'll likely be the last Hasbro Jabba for a long time, certainly at least the sculpt, they'll probably reuse it again, but this'll probably be the last new Jabba design from Jedi for a long time.

Yeah, it is odd that Hasbro has chosen to go back to full-boxed packaging again and away from the window-display packaging they'd been using for a while.

I'm actually surprised you can't see the figure from the box... what if his paint sucks or something on the one you grab?? Or if he's missing an accessory?

Sign. Me. Up.

I'll probably get a couple of these. I'm also surprised that you can't see Jabba in the box, but my guess is they wanted to make these take up as little shelf space as possible.

Interesting about the "posable tail."

Well, given that they're doing a full throne, I'm guessing it's probably to reduce packaging size, maybe, otherwise I can't see much reason for it.

Well, as far as paint job, yeah, it'll be a gamble, though maybe with luck, it'll be fairly consistent so no matter which you grab, you'll be ok. As far as missing items, it's a pain but it'd just be a matter of going back to the store for an exchange, or maybe you could even contact Hasbro to just get the missing piece.

I hope he's easy to acquire, though if necessary, I will pay inflated eBay prices to get Jabba, I lucked out with the new Rancor and finding it in a store because I wouldn't pay eBay prices for that, but I really want this Jabba, unless they did a really bad job on his design.

The original post just had a photo, who knows, Jabba may not even be done yet or in production, I think Memnoch said this was slated for Fall release, I'll take it sooner though.

You think maybe to be more in line with the "Vintage" theme. Like how back in the day they mostly all came in a box like that?

What you think the chances are of finding the last wave of the current line of figures on store shelves. I really want that EU wave, but am no longer in a position to do regular runs looking for figurs anymore.

Nah... I think, like MaulFan said... it's due to the economics of packaging. It'll likely come shipped in cases with a vehicle or something else in the same exact size box at the same pricepoint.

I think mistaking the grey bands along each side of the front as the throne, but I think it's just illustrated walls around the throne, definitely not part of hte toy though.
