Just wondering how many on this board have actually commissioned a statue,PF, or 1:6 figure? Not really talking about head sculpts, as I know that is fairly common on here.

I desperately want a PF or Statue of Sam Lowry from Brazil, dressed in the dream armor with wings. Not that I could actually afford to have this done,at least not as a one off, but the idea came up in a conversation, which begged the question, just how much would something like that cost?

Somehow I feel like this is my only option, as I highly doubt that SS or HT will ever tackle this character, just not sure there is enough interest, even though it is a highly revered film.

I want to commission a 1/4 scale Protoss zealot from Moonlyte on the statue forums. Unfortunately, that most likely will never happen.

I think commissions are around $3,000 - $4,000. At least I believe that is what Moonlyte charges. Btw - His statues are easily on par with SideShow (not in all ways though), if not a bit better.

Don't wanna spend that much dough. In fact, any edition size in the double digits, f'get about it. And I prefer commercially produced pieces that are more accessible to the general public, anyway. Somehow they see more collectible. :dunno

commissioned pieces do not cost that much. You are looking at around $1000 unpainted, for an "average" 1/4 scale sculpt...and around $500 to have it painted professionally.

It's pointless to talk about price - it all depends on the artist. But $1000 is incredibly cheap for a 1/4 scale.

And I know a lot of people that have sunk a lot of money into something like this with nothing to show for it. I would not recommend it.

If someone would custom a piece and create a thread just to show it; not mentioning the price or purchase, and sell it on ebay; would it be allowable on this forum? Especially if this person want to recast say 10-15 of this custom pieces for eventual sale on ebay?

No. If you are commissioning a piece from a property that is controlled by a licensee and you intend to make more than 10 copies it can't be shown here.

If you are a sculptor and want to show your work - that's a different story.

I agree that price can depend on the artist for sure and I have definately heard of some horror stories as well. But, there are a few reputable artists who have delivered time and time again.

I got ripped off by Richard Force. I joined a commission he was sculpting and he never came thru. It was a cheap piece luckily. But I would never get involved in one of those again. They take forever. So many horror stories about commissions.

oh yeah him. I've heard the horror stories

If there are certain characters missing from my potter minibust collection once the line ends I'll seriously consider arranging commissions
