Plus, Secura was a female, and I would imagine there are different dress codes for females (it's reverse discrimination - like how I cannot wear denim pants at work, where as a female can wear a denim skirt as often as she wants ... they better hope I never find a denim kilt ... might just have to prove a point ...................... next year after I get tenure :D).

Here you go, sir. :D

Tenure, my good man ... gotta wait for the tenure.

But knowing my luck, and the fact that this is the South, they would probably try to fire me thinking I was a cross-dresser. I'm Scottish dammit ... at least I am when I want to get drunk :lol

I have no idea of this relates to the question, but I'll go ahead anyways...

I was at a business dinner with about 6 people.... artists, writers, a director.... all STAR WARS nuts like us. When the discussion got around to the Holy Trilogy (of 6 films), the usual *****ing and ragging came up. I ended up in my usual role of SW apologist. Everyone was having good-natured fun with it, trying to 'stump me'. "OK, Adam, explain THIS to me....." That sort of thing.

One guy asked me this: "How come Uncle Owen dressed like a Jedi Knight?" I thought it was a good question; Owen Lars' clothes are very similar to Ben Kenobi's.

My answer: I never thought the Jedi Knights had an actual uniform; since they are supposed to be humble monks in a long ago & far away galaxy, I always assumed that the earth-tone robes, with taberd, obi, and leather belt for personal possessions was actually the "ash & sack-cloth" of the STAR WARS universe. It's basically how poor, humble people dress all across the STAR WARS galaxy, including the possession-less Jedi Knights.

The guy blinked at me three times and said "Did... did you just make that up? Or have you thought about this before?"

Anyhoo, that was always my humble theory, because I noticed the similarity between Uncle Owen's & Old Ben's outfits back in '77. It would also explain why no one would look at this crazy old hermit and go "Why is that guy dressed like a Jedi Knight?"

Of course, the PT kinda bunged up my theory a little, like when Dexter Jetster is told that there's someone to see him, "a Jedi by the looks of him". Maybe the droid was referring to the lightsaber, who knows.

It IS kinda funny that the male Jedi (human or otherwise) are all in variations of the basic theme, but, hoo-boy, so them hottie Jedi *****es get to tart themselves up any way they want.... Aayla, Luminara, Barriss....:lol

You got that right AH! :rock

Well, on Coruscant those colors would be uncommon since it's the capital of the galaxy, most people would have the money to dress better. But in Tatooine it's hot and most people are poor so it makes sense.

Some things that always made me wonder--where do the Jedi get money? I mean, yeah you can wear what you want but it's not like you're getting paid for your job. And if they use money from the government then isn't that kind of a strange use of people's money? There was also a part in one of the EU books where Leia sent Luke a bunch of useless supplies to his Jedi Academy on Yavin and it always seemed like people would be mad if they knew the government was using their money to buy Ithorian wind chimes to give to the Jedi.

I always assumed that in the time of the prequels the Jedi were given stipends of some sort either from the government or through an independent organization of some kind.

Do Jedi use the toilet ?? never saw a Door with a toilet sign on it or a toilet for that matter ?

Do the Sith fart or pick their noses ? never saw or heard one fart or pick their nose ?

. . . . . .

I class myself as a nerd and like Star Wars as much as the next guy but Im not pondering these kind of questions

cause I already know the answer

"Its a made up story"

I actually remember reading somewhere about the time that Episode I came out, that the Jedi dressed in "the robe of the common person". It may be in the making of book, if I get time, I will try and find it.

That is why you fail ...

Anakin's costume appears to be a derivative of the early Jedi costume concepts for Episode I.
I always just assumed he was dressed differently because he was the Chosen One.

Well, he did keep to the dress style for a while to start with...

It's like making his own lightsaber...it's as close as he can get to possessions...

Maybe his clothes have some magical powers...
