I remember when Blade was announced people said "Who the ____ wants to see Blade?" I also remember the same kind of talk about Iron Man. At this point the film of any character has the potential to rock so I'm definitely not above watching this or Ant Man if it looks good.

Hawkman could be a great property, he's got a great backstory (which ever one they use, Egyptian Prince or Thangarian Police), he's violent, flys around and uses a mace....whats not to like.

I'd take hawk over a Green Arrow movie any day of the week.

Green Arrow could be on par with the Batman films if done right only grittier and more fun considering Ollie's history.

DC has a ton of fantastic properties that they've been neglecting. For every Flash, Superman, Aquaman (yes he is rumored as well to be in preproduction) you'll see a scattering of Hawkman, Shazam!, The Atom....

Geoff Johns loves to take B list or C listers and make them A listers and he is a big part of DC Entertainment not to mention before the Iron Man film he was a B list characters people were completely unfamiliar with, I say B over C because he had cartoons but now he is literally one of the hottest designs out there. DC would love to fill the ranks so that the spotlight is lessened on Batman, Superman and Wonder Woman especially since they can't get Wondy off the ground.

I know they (Warners) was talking about Supermax, some prison Green Arrow vehicle but not sure what happened. I could see Green Arrow being closer to a Dark Knight scenario if they used Grell's Longbow Hunter storyline, which had GA separated from the DC universe to some degree, that way it could be standalone like Nolen's Batman. Don't get me wrong I enjoy GA, I just think Hawkman is a more interesting character even with all his origin issues.

I could see GA getting his own TV show, a follow-up to Smallville. They almost had it set, the further adventures of GA and Chloe but who knows.

People also laughed when they announced that they were making a live action "Underdog" movie. People continued to laugh when that turkey made it to the silver screen.

Lesson: Most of the time ideas that sound and look stupid are stupid.

This sounds and looks stupid.

And every truly great idea sounds stupid right up to the point that it turns out great.

And for every one of those suprise gems, there are hundreds of cinematic turds. Could this possibly defy everyone'es expecations and become the next "Dark Knight"? Sure, why not. Vegas money is on no.

I dunno. I thought Nolan making Batman movies sounded pretty ____ing perfect when it was first announced.

In most cases, I tend to agree with Shadow. Having said that, I don't know what we can know about a Hawkman movie until we get more information. Supposedly the da Vinci code was good as a book. Maybe (hopefully) they're referring to that and not the horrible film?

I absolutely love hawkman's design, specifically his helmet. This should almost be like Thor, except without the lightning.

Probably a very small handful of people. Sure, I would like to see it. Why not? I don't think "Joe Sixpack" is gonna go see it. But then, he's probably gonna go see Transformers 3. So I couldn't give a ____ what he wants to see.

Ditto! :lecture

And I'd like to see a Hawkman movie...and I'd like to see Ant-Man as well.

I love Hawkman's design as well! I'd love to see what an SFX studio could do with Hawkman and Hawkgirl! :D

:lecture I'm not interested in this movie at all, but if Transformers 6 is in the theaters the same time as Hawkman I'll definitely see it over Transformers.

I'm not above watching anything if it's good.

There are some people who were critisizing X-Men First Class when it was first announced and really liked it once they saw it.

I have to admit that I didn't want to see it but went and saw it anyway. I liked it. :D

However I wasn't one of those who screamed "fail" or "this will suck" with XM:FC.

The complex backstory for Hawkman is a great idea for a movie. However as a stand alone superhero he's essentially just a guy with wings. What if Superman's only power was the ability to fly? Kinda lame.

He has waaaay more powers than flight. And he's actually powered by a special alien metal called Nth. Also he's just BA.

Doesn't he have super strength and some kind of healing factor?

I loved Thor. Hawkman sounds like Thor without the "thouhs" meets Wolverine coolness.

Over the many years his powers have been increased by the writers, he pretty much has the basic enhanced strength and healing factor and I think the Nth metal acts as a protective barrier around him for breathing and such. I remember reading Hawk stories back in the late 60's early 80's were he could communicate with birds but I think that's gone by the wayside.

He's always been a gladiator type of character, uses a lot of ancient weapons, especially big maces. He's always had something of a temper as well, mostly Carter Hall not Katar. He likes hitting things and isn't afraid to occasionally kill.

Thats what I like about Hawkman. He's not so bad like the Punisher but not so good like Superman. He has a vicious side to em.

To me it is not about what their powers are (or are not). Batman has no super powers...just super gadgets.

To me, it is all about how they portray the heroic side of the character's personality. What draws it out and how it is acted is key, to me. That is why I am excited about seeing GL despite the lamosity of his powers and how they look on screen in the trailers.

A character like Hawkman lends itself to focus on the humanity of the character over the special effects that sometimes overwhelm a potentially great story.

I am as excited to see Hawkman as I have been to see all of the Marvel goodness and all ov the other DC goodness coming out.

As I was growing up, I scoffed at DC comics and went ape ____ over Marvel. But now I just want to see a well-made story of a superhero no matter what his real-life brand is.
