What's up with those swords based on the books? Where do the designs come from?

The designs are from George RR Martin. He assists in their development and has to approve the design. He also signs the certificate of authenticity. Whrn I found out about these they were all sold out but I got Ice from an online retailer. Now you can't find them. Would have liked to get Book Longclaw but I will be more then happy with the show version.

Definately want the hammer and Hound Helm.

Here is another pic of Ice.

Missed the swords, but I've had the hound helm on order since may, still waiting for them to ship to the etailer

I am hoping the television series will feature a flash back to the clash between Rhaegar Targaryan and Robert Baratheon

Unfortunately, the creators have stated that they're shying away from flashbacks. They'd cast someone to play the Mad King back prior to the first season's filming, but that was before they decided not to use flashbacks.

Lame... would make an awesome 15min intro for Season 4 to have Robert bury his warhammer in Rhaegar's breastplate, see the later drop dead in the ruby ford and Jamie sitting on the throne only to have Daenarys wake up suddenly as if she was having a nightmare.

We didn't even get the proper visions in the house of the dead. Can we get a revisit please? According to the literature Rhaegar was a great man that everyone loved but the show never dictates that. We're just lead to believe all Targaryan are crazy.

Supposedly the visions in the House of the Dead were cut/changed because they didn't want to give away any plot points. For instance, the Wolf-headed man on the throne.

Some flashbacks to Roberts Rebellion would he awesome but I don't see how that would push the story along, it would only hinder it. Plus with so much story to cover over an hour there would be no place for it. Webisodes would be neat.

They never talked about the Tower or Joy either which actually is very important.

Actually one flashback scene of pre-rebellion events was allready filmed.

It was the scene showing
Ned Stark's father and older brother being cruelly killed by the Mad King orders, before the eyes of the whole court.
.

You can see a glimpse of it in one of the promotional trailers for season 1. The currently unknown actor playing Ned's brother looks eerily similar to Sean Bean in that glimpse.

Unfortunately the whole idea of flashbacks was scrapped due to time and production restraints. Which is a pity couse it was the perfect storytelling tool for the creators. The TV show misses a LOT of context for events and characters due to the lack of any explanation of passed history of Westeros. GOT is a great show, but the constant productional restraints shackling the storytelling, keep it from utilising the whole potential of the novels and make it seem crude in narration compared to HBO best.
