HA! i still have that Halcyon kit. it's pretty awesome even though it's waaaay too big to be a screen-accurate burster. i remember the ones in the movies being like half that size.

That first and last picture really show the difference. I can't believe HCG released him like that. Your stand does a great deal for this piece and your mods take it even further. Congrats!

Wicked looking. Thanks for the pictures with natural lighting. While looking at your pics, my HCG Alien Bust looked over my shoulder and saw the pics. Next thing I knew, it jumped back into it's original box and refuses to come out until I agree to send him to you for the version 2 upgrade.

Kudos still have to be given to HCG for at least getting a good cast, because all the paint in the world cant cover up a turd. But yeah, they were SOOO close. They just needed to have a better paint app, cut it at the appropriate angle (no slant!) and include the back tubes (they already had these available because of the 1/1 they sell). I think it would have been MUCH better received and gone down as a classic. (And saved me a LOT of work! )

Good ol' Halcyon, I miss them! Its a really fun kit though and I had a blast posing him, painting him, and making his little grate base. As far as size, I dont know, he looks right when compared to the A3 coming out of your chest piece and the 1/1 palisades one. But even if he is a little larger, you could just look at him as being a "toddler" instead of a newborn!

I return from my lab (bet you all thought I was dead! ) having completed a new custom for a forum member. He wanted all the same work that was done on mine (tubes, tendons, tinting, repaint, glossing, base) with the exception of the back tubes and in a blackish-silvery variant ( I layered black, charcoal, steel, pewter, and silver). And here are the results:

Shots are all with daylight, the piece is darker in room lighting (and hard to photograph!)

It think the results are a lot sleeker and mean looking...

here is my HCB repaints and mods for customers( i did three total)
the first mod was a total repaint then the upper lip was chipped away and resculpted , here is the linc to the gallery page.
