As preparation to get me motivated to order this statue on day one I am starting to re-read all my hellboy comics from Seed of Destruction onwards!
I find that when I am actually reading a comic it motivates me to get a statue. I was re-reading old silver surfer comics and impulse purchased the bowen statue because of it hahah!

Sorry - don't know - I have not read that many BPRD. I read mostly hellboy, but I think I should probably get into the BPRD series too. Can't wait for the hellboy statue. Hopefully pre-order is for October or so.

I just read the first BPRD HC trade, it was pretty good. It is definitely building up to something. Im going to continue on with the trades. I would say Hellboy is better but this was a solid read if you like the hellboy verse.
I don't want to derail this thread but do you have the Silver Surfer Omnibus? I watched the cartoon and really love it so I was debating getting the omnibus, not sure if it holds up well or if it's a bit too much silver age.
Not sure on the quality but its long out if print and fetching high secondary prices.

I really like the stuff from volume 3 onwards (1987). Though I have to admit that it is somewhat hit and miss. A great story arc followed by a lame story arc. More good than bad I think.
I do not have this one: "Essential Silver Surfer, Vol. 2", but I believe that it has issues 1 to 18 of the original volume 3 and can be obtained from amazon.
Be warned - this is old school comic book style, so not for everyone. I personally love it but my preference might be colored by nostalgia!
