Oh, you might be right! It looks really dark on my monitor, so it was hard to see the length of the barrel! To add to the confusion, the gun is described as a laser pistol. But cool site nonetheless!

That link takes you to the scene where Luke finds the Princess, but it is a deleted scene where he blasts the door instead of opening it with a button. And he uses a regular Stormtrooper blaster to do that.

The only place I've seen the Exclusive Pistol on the Stormtrooper is in 'Star Wars - The Complete Visual Dictionary' realeased by DK publishing. If anyone has this book go to page 232 for the Imperial Stormtrooper section, and there it is in the hands of the Stormtrooper! It's called a short range combat pistol.
