Amazon has the best prices around. I've been shopping for quite a while and have decided on the Samsung LNT4665F. I'll be getting one in the next couple of weeks.

damn man, that's the one i've been looking at....i think it's the best t.v. for the money and it isn't worth upgrading to another 46" model. although i can't tell much difference, besides the look of it, from that model and the 4661...the 61 actually appears to have more inputs. the 65 does have the better contrast ratio. you can compare them side by side at Best Buy's website.

I was looking at both and decided that the higher contrast ratio was worth the extra $100. It's probably a personal choice though as both seem to be great tv's.

the only thing that worries me is the screen reflection. it was mentioned in CNET's review...it's the only concern i have since there are 2 windows shining on it and I don't want any reflection.

slightly better picture quality or less glare.....tough choice for me. i'll go to BB and check out them in-person and judge that way.

"The LN-T4661F is Samsung's least-expensive 46-inch flat-panel LCD with 1080p native resolution for the 2007 model year. We recently reviewed another 46-inch 1080p LCD HDTV from Samsung, model LN-T4665F, so you may be wondering why we chose to review this one so soon afterward. The answer is shine. We complained about the 65F's shiny screen because it reflected lots of ambient light, acting more like a mirror than any TV screen we'd seen yet. The 61F's screen has the standard matte finish, which really cuts down on glare. But between the two, we did feel the LN-T4665F offered slightly better picture quality despite the shine (more on that below), making it a better choice for real home theater buffs and others with a lot of control over room lighting. On the other hand, the LN-T4661F should satisfy people who just can't stomach glare, and its picture quality, feature set and exterior design are still a cut above most LCDs on the market. "

well i checked out the 65 and 61 at BB just now and the glare is a slight problem but the blacks, color, etc. are better with the 65. anyone know Amazon's return policy on t.v.'s? can you return it for ANY reason....is return shipping free?

I know where you're coming from. I saw the same thing but I don't have a lot of light coming in my living room which is why I decided on the Samsung over the Sony (I can get either for about the same price). I did recomend the Sony for the glare reduction to my Dad since he has a lot of windows in his living room and it's pretty bright.

Congrats on the refund, it's like free money :chew

I still don't know if I'm getting it from Amazon or a friend of mine who can get me wholesale prices. They were $150 cheaper than Amazon 2 weeks ago but Amazon's price has dropped $200 in the past couple weeks so I'm checking with him to see how cheap he can get it. I doubt I'll get the warranty. I've had really good luck with tv's and most of the bad stuff happens within the MFR's warranty time anyway.

ordered the 4665 last night and it has now been picked up by the shipping company and on it's way to me. CAN'T WAIT!!!!

I oked at them both at BestBuy side by side too and went with the 61. The glare on the 65 was ridiculous.

You *******!!! Please let me know how it is since I'll be ordering mine in the next week or two.

I'm assuming you went through Amazon so let us know how the delivery service is since I'm sure some of us are considering buying from them.

I will definitely let you know about the entire process.

i went with with the 65 because of the higher quality of picture it supposedly has a lot better viewing angle. i'll find out if the glare bothers me too much. good thing is that i can send it back within 30 days for a full refund...which i'll turn around and order the 61. i don't think the glare will be too big of a deal because the t.v. is so bright but we'll see...i'd rather try it out and know for sure rather than get the 61 and never know.

well i called Eagle because I noticed the shipping updated last night showing it(Samsung 46" 4665 LCD) was in Atlanta so I called the Huntsville warehouse(where it was supposed to ship to me from) this morning and asked if it was too early to schedule a day/time for delivery and to my SURPRISE it was in their warehouse!!!! They said the earliest they could(read: would) deliver is monday....easy decision here, "I'll come pick it up.", so 3 hours later I'm back home with my t.v.!! I LOVE it but my hdmi cables from MonoPrice.com(AVS forum members recommend this site/cables...$5.00 for a 6ft hdmi cable) won't get here till tomorrow and I'll post my observations on the t.v. btw i ordered the t.v. Sunday night and received(picked it up) today(Thursday).

Well it looks like Amazon is sold out at the moment but I'll be looking forward to your review once you get everything set up.

I will be buying an HD TV bigger than the one I have now. That way I can view 65 inch pictures of my Tonner doll collection. :monkey3

damn you Loki, why must you take me away from my t.v.! :)

Pro's
-Great-bright picture
-great blacks
-ton of options to customize the picture
-it's shiny
-GREAT PICTURE
-PRICE
-SD material looks really good(but let's face it LCD's aren't made for SD material)

Cons
-Glare is there (but not bad since the screen is so bright)
-it's shiny so you have to keep it dusted
-it's not 52"
-the speakers won't win any awards(but pretty good for an LCD)

Well i love it. The only worry I had was the glare(as opposed to the 4661 matte screen) because I have 2 good sized windows on both sides of the room facing the t.v. I have to say I'm keeping it in spite of the glare. Actually where the t.v. sits off the ground the windows do not come into view too much and at night the lamps do not really hit it straight on either. Plus the screen is so bright the glare isn't bad when it is shining on the screen. I do not watch too much t.v. during the day so and I when I do watch movies i want the t.v. with the better blacks(4665 has deeper blacks than the 4661). there are a ton of options on the settings so you can change the set up to get it to your liking and the t.v. saves the settings for each "source" (Comp 1, Comp 2, HDMI 1, etc.), which is great. i have not seen any artifacts or pixelation on anything I have watched. i watched about 10 football games and they all were perfect but there was some ghosting in the East/West Army All-star game....i think it was the source and not the t.v. though because I have not seen any ghosting on any game or anything else I've watched other than an old, old Hitchcock episode on Chiller channel. the Xbox 360 looks incredible on it with slight to no motion blur (there is a game mode but I do not use it) and no ghosting/bleeding at all.

you can turn the blue light that is under the Samsung logo on or off or on only during certain functions. I can't say enough good things about this t.v., especially considering the price. The speakers are pretty good, not great...not very deep sound compared to my rear projection t.v. but then again they shouldn't be and I only turned them on once to see how they sounded because I use my receiver for sound.

the t.v. swivels which I love because if i'm sitting on the right side of the t.v. I can swivel it to be straight on with where I am sitting. the viewing angle is great too. seems to be about 30-35 degrees but isn't bad or anything outside of that...and since you can swivel the t.v. on it's base it isn't a problem at all.

I cannot wait to use a Avia DVD to calibrate it even further.

I would say if you lose sleep at night if there is even the slightest bit of glare then go for the 4661 but for me i wanted the best picture when i watch movies or shows at night. actually ever since LCD came out I was looking forward to ending glare and I figured I would send this back because of it but well.....I'm not....it's all mine...mine, mine, mine.

off to watch the BCS Championship game now!

Loki, if you have any questions on something I didn't cover ask away.

Great review, thanks. Glare is not an issue for me at all because of how I have my living room set up and the fact that the sun never really hits the front of the house.

Can't wait to get mine ordered (although Amazon's price is back up a bit), I might go through my friend anyway.

Glad you like it Al.
