You said it well Jesse...

I really think that some of the purchasing decisons for retailers (especially smaller ones) are based on number of orders etc. And they don't have a wait list, so if you crap out on them it could potentially leave them stuck with stock... so don't order unless you really are going to pay for it, or accept you might get hit with a fee.

I guess Ive just been spoilt all these years, invariably Ive used Sideshow Collectables or Forbidden Planet when placing orders for Collectables. Who allow you to cancel and dont hit you with "fees"

Ive placed 3 orders with www.toys2.net

A HT Joker 1/6th (delivered)
A HT Ironman Mk III (preordered)
A HT Ironman Mk II (preordered)

Unfortunately due to overspending I find myself unable to afford the Mk II so I sent them an email requesting that they cancel my order.

I was hit with a 10% cancellation fee, maybe they should create a waitlist system like Sideshow

That way us dithery collectors who make impulse buys and then have the internal struggle of "I cant afford it" "I can afford it" have better options

After this order I doubt Ill use them again, I like the safety net of being able to cancel without being stung !

I rarely preorder with them because of that. I prefer to use them for in stock items.

me too, but like i said i refuse to use Toys2 again. i understand the purpose of the restock fee, but if i cancel MONTHS before the item is suppose to ship it's purely discretion on the site on whether they impose the fee. if i cancel when i get the shpping notification or after they charge my credit card i'm fine with the fee but when they do absolutely nothing like that there really isn't need to charge for nothing. and i will say that 90% of the items on the site will sell even if orders get canceled.

Comes down to knowing up front. If you know you are gonna get whacked with 10% and preorder and cancel...that's your problem. If you didn't know it because it is not printed to stand out, then that sucks. Hell, I'd cancel my Pod and Tumbler if I could but I'm stuck and knew that upfront so I'm ok with it. You're right...90 percent of the stuff will sell anyway.:(

I buy a lot from toys2.net but that is only stuff I'm 100% sure I'm going to get. Like it was mentioned before...they plaster it ALL over the site so you should really expect it even if the circumstances leading to your cancellation were unexpected.

Sorry to hear you got hit by a lack of funds, the unfortunate happens sometimes.

did you miss the Mark II pre-order on Sideshow? Perhaps you should try the wait-list.

That is why when you preorder with them, use Money Order/Check as a option. Then once it comes in and you still want it, call em and give them your credit card info, that is what I always do.

Have you had to cancel on them ? and being a previous customer with your CC details on record would they accept that and not charge you ?

The way I see it the Mark 3 I have on order with them just went up £8

I didnt see the cancellation policy when I ordered it, my fault, I sped read, guilty as charged

Its a pity as if they had taken Sideshows policy on Cancellations theyd be getting my preorders for Hot Toys items in future.

I still use Forbidden Planet from time to time and they are on a par with toys2.net when it comes to the terrible speed of replying to emails.

But unless I have the option to cancel without being stung as I do with SS and Forbidden Planet then theyve lost my business.

Using a Money Order as an ordering option, might be a solution but it seems odd that Id have to ring them up (bare in mind im an International Customer in the UK) and give them my CC details when as an existing customer theyd already have them.

Seems a harder way for them to get the full amount and us to be secure from "fees" when they could just change the policy and improve their returning customer ratio. £200 with a satisfied customer coming back or £208 and no repeat business. Or at least less business because the returning customer thinks twice about ordering with them again !

Id also understand the policy a bit better if the item was sold out, but it isnt !

No cancellation fees is one of the reasons I order a lot of stuff through BBTS and Sideshow :)

I cancelled a Rocky 3 back before they were shipping and never saw a charge from it.

It's a ^^^^ty thing to do based on the reasons galactiboy stated. They are left with a product someone ordered and has to hope they are able to sell it.

Nowadays, anything that's not a 100% sure purchase I pre-order from either BBTS or Sideshow. I've had to pay those BS fees at both Toys2 and Alterego and giving them money for nothing was a bitter pill to swallow. Restocking fee my ass.

agree from now on im only ordering from sideshow and bbts

The point is this - Why are you telling us, why aren't you telling Toys2? I.E. you want to be a customer for life, you will probably be worth X amount of dollars over a lifetime plus the ancillary word of mouth issue. And you realize you didn't read the TOS that closely and you are asking for a one time break, you won't ask for it again, and you would appreciate the courtesy given but obviously the choice is theres. You want someone to cut you a break, you gotta tell them what's in it for them too. ( I.E. retain a potential customer for life) and you have to alleviate their concerns about the long haul (I.E. you keep preordering and ditching and then asking to get the fee waived) and you have to present the illusion of choice ( I.E. demanding a specific thing, even if you are right, is only going to make people prone to bunker up on you )

Give a inch and a customer will want a foot.

I'm sure the company would say no to dropping the fee, cause if they do it once for someone, chances are it will happen again with the same customer later. And again you will be stuck with a product you ordered for that customer. And no, the customer isn't always right.

Sideshow may let people cancel without issue, but that is why those "sold out" items show up in numbers later.

I take it everyone is smaller than SS ??

Forbidden Planet here in the UK is smaller than SS ? but they have about 15 stores nationally ?

Neither of these have a cancellation policy ?

I just got a PM from a guy :

If you decide you want to preorder another Mark II, you can do so with me here, www.craigstoycave.com,
no cancellation fees with me. Thanks, Craig

Is he bigger than toys2.net ?

or this board member ?

Mista305

Is he bigger than toys2.net ?

I understand as Ive said its my bad for not reading the TOS before I bought, Im just hoping this header is read by others who can learn from my mistake. Either use toys2.net by

1. never cancelling
2. order via Money Order then send them CC details when its in stock that way your covered for cancelling prior
3. Dont order with them fullstop

Ive learned my lesson and it cost me £8

Hopefully this thread will teach others who might not read the TOS either and save them £8

FUQ U nash you condescending toss pot and thx for the bump

You see I dont need to keep any mistakes Ive made to myself, I can post them on here to give a heads up to anyone who might follow suit.

You on the other hand wont and shouldnt because the amount of gloating and derogatory posts youve done on this board, over other people, would mean youd be looking at a 15 page thread of :

I fully understood the cancellation policy with Toys2 when I placed an order, but it doesn't mean that I like the policy any better. I ordered a bunch of the Hot Toys Batman stuff (Tumbler, Batpod, etc...) about two weeks before DC announced that they would import the stuff through Previews. I get a 30% discount through Previews, and I was pretty mad, but if I cancel, the fee would cut into the discount enough that it wouldn't be worth it...:(

Live and learn. I just wish that they would be more responsive to e-mails and phone calls. I called them last week to change payment to paypal, and they said they would send along a new invoice including their paypal address. I haven't heard from them, so I e-mailed them with the same request, but still no contact.

Mistajoe will be getting any future import orders from here on... he responds immediately to any e-mail I've sent him, and the shipping is much more reasonable.

:lecture:lecture Word!

This is why I don't pre-order anything from stores with this policy.
As for being stuck with excess stock, I doubt Toy Square will be stuck with Hot Toys 12" Iron Man figures, these are guaranteed to sell out fast once they hit stock shelves.

Same here. I foolishly bought into the hype that the tumbler would only be available through importers and ordered through Toys2 only to find a few weeks later that places like Cornerstore Comics were offering the Tumbler for less. I decided to cancel because even if I kept the order with Toys2, I'd still be losing money compared to ordering it from a local store. And in the end, I decided not to collect the Batman stuff anyway.

I knew about the cancellation fee, so I can't really blame Toys2 exactly, but it doesn't really make me feel better about throwing $40+ away for nothing. BBTS and Sideshow get all my business now.
