I need to give Absolution another shot. Played a ways into it and lost interest- couldnt really put my finger on why cuz I loved the snot out of Blood Money. It was almost like I forgot I had it... which I guess means that somehow it was just forgettable. :dunno

I think being completely absent from the last generation until the tail end and releasing a strangely different game is the reason this series isn't getting the love it deserves. Maybe if they waited until people were asking for a change in the mechanics of the game it would have been received better but instead they waited till they perfected the mechanics and then never capitalized on it.

It was....strange. Blood Money came at the start, with a release on Xbox 360, then Absolution came toward the very end, right when the Wii U released. I never even got why Blood Money had no PS3 release before the Trilogy pack, when the older Tom Clancy games got PS3 ports. Gotta admit, fans do get alienated when they wait that long a time and hear very little, especially on the note of how Blood Money ended.

Played the Beta today. The graphics are stellar, I mean absolutely amazing. The gameplay it fun but the shooting is shotty at best. Its ok from a standing position but any moving and shooting is strange and awkward. Story is interesting tho, its an origin story in a lot of ways so maybe we will get to see where he got the Silver Ballers and thats why they have been absent thus far.

Graphics are stellar? They look outdated to me, at least in the beta it does. The animations are pretty archaic too. Seems like a step back from Absolution in how he controls and moves, the gun mechanics are horrible, like really really horrible. So far the beta seems quite underwhelming for the technical side of things.

Everything else I'm really enjoying, I'm intrigued by the story so far, and I'm glad they went back to the sandbox style of gameplay.

Absolution was such a awesome game ! Why there doing this online crap is beyond me . Just stick with the Winning formula . Absolution was reviewed extremely well by critics .

But it didn't sell well or make the fan base happy. Absolution was almost a complete failure for them.

There is barely any online stuff in this new game. You can play completely offline and the experience will be the same. They are only adding in additional side Hits to levels if you are playing online and they are not story connected. If you are referring to the episodic formula then just wait till December when the complete disc version comes out.

Yeah, it was only a success critically but sales really do count. I think it came down to fans in the end, with sales.

Yeah. At least they pretty much cemented Bateson as 47s voice and the Beta is cool in that regard too. It's pretty neat to see 47 talk to people in the level. Makes it seem more alive.

47 rarely talked in levels too, outside of cutscenes at that. I probably will take a look sometimes since I got the beta thing from Amazon. The problem is, I might cancel my PO on there :lol

I may as well and just the standard edition. I'd get 20% off still and could probably scoop up the art book and statue down the line for a lot less.

yeah, same with me. And most collector's editions these days don't seem to always sell out, or at least for that much, so I'm not missing much. Hell, the Professional Edition of Absolution is still on Square's site!

I've so far purchased 2 limited edition games, Resident Evil 5 & Killzone 3, The RE5 was pretty pointless with the mini figure & tote bag & papers, but the The Killzone 3 is worth it for the contents, however what i notice is, unless it's a Japanese Exclusive Limited Editions, 99% of the time it's not worth buying because they ain't that limited, and few years down the road you would be able to pick them up at much lower price, or you can just purchase the normal version and buy the extra goodies that came with the limited at way lower price, the Killzone 3 Helmet & Sniper Figure are dirt cheap nowadays, you'd though something like a Helghast Helmet would command higher price.

There are rare exceptions, like Halo, Metal Gear, maybe Last of Us & Uncharted but i've never compared their initial price vs aftermarket price for them.

That really makes me want a remake of the older games...with this engine :drool glorious, truly.

After reading the PS blog about this it seems the game will start with what we played in the beta and then show this cutscene to show a passing of 20 years to the Paris show from E3. My guess is the mystery man from the beta is the dude featured at the end of this trailer and he is going after 47 and Diana.

Interesting, considering Blood Money (Contracts by extension) focused a bit on 47 and Diana getting targeted and even meeting up. hmmm.

Yeah that dude at the end reminded me a lot of Sergei from Hitman 2 but that's probably just me being a fanboy.

I was thinking about asking Amnur to do a 47 sculpt but I'm sure he would need the ten person minimum to do it so I just thought I would gauge interest here first. Would anybody here want one and if so which game would you want it to be based off?
