Looks good.

What are the panels on the walls and the one in front of the center channel ?

@jimjimmyjones85 How did it go with the HTPC? :D

I got one built. It's not a server per se, simply a media computer right now. I hope to revisit the nas box approach when I catch my hand again.

Nice Gates, can I ask what projector you are using?

Thank you sir! Right now I use an Epson 6500UB soon to be replaced with an Epson 5020.

They are acoustic panels for echo and reverberation. Best thing I ever did for the room. The one on the ground in front was because I had a spare. It's all hard floor so I threw it down to try and stop a bit of the reverberation from that massive center speaker.

Look like they are Acoustical panels.

Indeed they are sir!

I have concrete floors but I have padding and carpet. I don't think I need them. But I always wonder.

It makes a huge difference. Carpet is one thing but then you still have reflection off hard surfaces such as walls and ceilings. My room is pretty much dead as far as echos go. It's a strange feeling when you're talking in the other room and then you walk into the theater. Everything sounds "dead" (no echos at all). This way you hear the speakers working and not the room (when there's too much echo and reverberation). It's been said on many sites and researches that you can get better audio from treating a room rather than buying new equipment (obviously to a limit, ie; going from a radio shack system to a high-end system).

Indeed.
It sounds almost like your in a vacuum when talking to someone in a properly set up HT as yours. Well done!

There are some great setups in here.

I have an old Bose Lifestyle II 5.2 system hooked up to an ancient pioneer receiver that I just don't want to part with and a 55" Samsung LED.

Nothing too fancy, but does a great job since I have a condo with neighbors all around me and cannot go above -50 decibels.

Yeah the panels are great if your can do them, you see them in movie theaters but most people think they are just decoration or speakers.

Oh :lol:lol:lol I'm single so it's all good for me. Otherwise I probably wouldn't have a man cave like I have.

I am single too but I figured a lot of people might it have that option. I never knew about the custom printed ones though.

I wish I had a good room for mine. So of now its a just a 50" plasma and some nice definitive technology speakers for front and center and soon to have definitive technology rear and rear center speakers mounted in ceiling.

Still sounds like a pretty cool system, but you'll notice a big difference with the rears.

I will see if I can shoot some photos this weekend of my HT. I love it, and built it myself from the ground up. It might be worth writing out the whole process.

However, I have a separate issue right now that I thought the fine minds here might be able to help with. We are completely re-furnishing our living room, and I'm looking to put a new tv on the wall. It will be in the 60 - 70" range, and I haven't decided if I want to go 3D or not. I've had good luck with Samsungs in the recent past, but I'm not thrilled with their 3D sets. I know the Elites were getting kudos awhile back, but I have to start doing some serious researching here pretty quick, and I thought I'd ask here first to get started. In that size range, what have you had or heard about that's getting great reviews?

I would love to see pics of your setup! Like you, mine was built from ground up on my own. The basement was right down to the cement floors and walls. You get a great feeling of accomplishment inside when it's done. As for the TV question, I'll look around and see what I can find out. I'm a projector guy. The last TV I bought was a 52" Samsung about 5 years ago and it's now on my bedroom wall. Since I got my projector, I haven't looked back.

I'll get working on those photos this weekend.

I love my HT (as I said earlier, I use a JVC RS25 with a 120" screen, and I'm very happy with it), but we have a lot of TV's too. I've considered skipping having one in the living room, but I'm too addicted for that to work :D
