ESPN covers bowling, darts, arm wrestling, golf and strongman competitions too. So what can you do!?
And just for the record: NONE of those things are sports. They're contests. And the people who participate in them are not athletes, they're competitors.
True, but every one of those requires at least some talent of a physical nature.
I can't stand that they cover poker tournaments. That's about as far removed from a "sport" as you can get.

Me too. Sorry, but if "eating" was a professional sport then the U.S. would be the breeding ground for champions. I always joke that when ESPN has no real sport to show they put on either bullriding or this. At least with bullriding I can root for the bull to impale either the rider, the clown or both. With sport eating I just hope diabetes catches up and ends their career.

Did you also ever notice his apparent lack of normal elbows? When he puts his arms up they look like they are inside out.
It's not a sport by any stretch of the imagination. That's why I find it funny that he wouldn't compete because of a contract dispute.
I also find his translator funny. She can't even keep a straight face through this whole thing.

I thought it was pretty funny that Kobayashi showed up at the contest, then got on stage to sign autographs. The guy is a pretty impressive eater, but he is clearly full of himself.
