close up shots are definitely not HT quality... the clothing isn't even mixed media, just sculpted.

some of us collect HT because they're generally, the best there is. the joints done here don't bother me, but I hate when people say "just collect statues."

I think it's a tad more silly to complain about people wanting better articulation on action figures :dunno wasn't my intention to say screw what everyone else wants. I even said to each their own. It's just a little silly to say that anybody that wants something other than a museum pose is an idiot " playing" with their toys. If people are happy with just one pose for the whole time they have it I'm not sure why you wouldn't collect statues. They can obviously be sculpted into a more dynamic pose without worry of exposed joints etc.

I think it can go both ways. Just as inane as it is to say that people who are articulation advocates are "playing with their toys", it's just as inane to say that people who prefer accuracy over articulation or museum poses in lieu of dynamic poses should collect static statues instead.

Once again, as usual, it just comes down to my opinion is more right over yours. :lol

For me that's exactly what hot toys are. They are premium formate figures, like sideshow makes..except these are actual figures. I see them as posable statues, as silly as that may sound. Some have more range of motion but for me, the articulation is of secondary concern. The overall appearance and quality is what I focus on. And there are very very few statues that are as good sculpting wise as hot toys, let alone the costume reproduction. These are essentially studio quality Maqs with articulation. It's crazy.

My sentiments as well.

And yet I didn't say that at all. So I'll just say what i've already said twice and say to each their own.:wave

My argument wasn't really that HT quality is better or worse than other companies. My argument was that if you don't find that articulation is really a concern with your figures then statues are probably right up your alley. Personally articulation isn't number one for me either, but I like to change up the poses on my figures in my displays fairly frequently. I like to think they'd be durable and capable enough to do that within reason.

So far there are still some issues from time to time with rubber armed figures. So while I appreciate that it looks more accurate to hide the joints. I don't feel the trade off is worth it.
There aren't any GOTG statues (besides the new animated ones which I'm not keen on) as far as I'm aware and really love the other 4 figures. Have just sold most of my PFs as sideshow has now priced me out of them.

:goodpost: :hi5: my thoughts exactly.

:goodpost: Some poster here said that if I wanted to articulate and have ugly joints I should collect Neca. But Neca is not 1/6, and I don't want ugly joints. To some collectors, the look of the figure is the most important, to me it's articulation, but of course, looks come second. Otherwise I wouldn't collect Hot toys. I sold my Batman Returns (I love the movie) cause he's a glorified statue. To me. Other collectors thinks he's cool. I'm not mad. And I do think Hot Toys try very hard to hit that sweet spot, between articulation and looks. And most of the time, they do a damn fine job, and that is why I collect them.

I saw some discussion about a Hot Toys 1/6 Star Lord here. I got him right when it was up for preorder a couple years back. As I've explained in a thread I'd like to rebuy him (because of trying to customize hands which left him handless on one the arms as an HT peg broke and long before that a crappy move misplaced all the 1/6 accessories-I'm ashamed :slap). I actually just bought the Star Lord I have another display stand today. Pictures are tempting me to get it all again :lol I got him close to $400, 300 something dollars but I've seen prices steadily increase since the movie came out.
I also might want to wait to see the sure to be epic line up for Vol. 2. Hardcore Guardians fan :D

I'm always bummed when a figure gets delayed but I'm also in the group that I like them to get the figure right and not have issues.

Just got the email notice from Sideshow that Hot Toys advised them that Drax is pushed back to Nov - Dec.

It's unfortunate, but we've already waited this long for Drax. I don't mind waiting another couple of months.
