i'll say. the deluxe look is what really sold me - i didnt get the holiday special choice, but this look is something unexpected an kinda genius to me. so many people's introduction to the character had that look through promotional material, and then throw in the mysterious "eyes" on the helmet... i don't know... the most i've been excited for a figure in a while, and i'm not THAT big of a SW fan.

The deluxe sold me as well. Love the proto and the holiday special - I’m collecting them all. As for the pouches they should be able to be switched out since they are removable for the deluxe pouches.

I think the deluxe release was a cool move by HT because, yeah, they probably could have sold a fair number of the promo versions as a separate figure. It's what I wish they'd do with Jedi Luke & the Endor gear. Instead of milking a second release with just a poncho and helmeted head sculpt added to the costume, it would have been nice to have a deluxe version with those parts included - similar to this Boba Fett deluxe version. Maybe that's actually the plan, and I'm just out of the loop.

And I have a question for the Fett experts, please. Did Boba switch the pockets under his ammo belt at any point during ESB? I used to think that the Sideshow pocket flaps were just lined up wrong due to an oversight on their part, but now the HT Boba has pocket flaps facing the same wrong way as the Sideshow figure. I say "wrong" way because I've never seen movie images that match. Here's an illustration of what I'm referring to, with arrows pointing to the pocket in question.

I'm sorry if this has been addressed before, but I haven't come across any of the discussions about it, and it's just bugging me.

Sideshow and Hot Toys (so far) have it wrong. The medicom rah actually got it right. Also the pouches are not the same size. Fett’s right pouch is smaller.
It’s funny though...that photo shows one of several ways the knee armor was screwed up. They’re on the wrong knees in this one. In another, they’re upside down. Maybe Fett was a drunkard in his later years...it would explain a lot!

It wouldn't solve everything, but it seems with the new Hot Toys one that the pouches are removable, so you could maybe swap which side they're on if that makes it look more right to you.

Wouldn’t solve the problem as the flaps are supposed to be facing the same way as each other and they’re supposed to be sized differently anyway. Good thought, though.

Thanks for verifying that! And, yeah, drunken Boba would answer quite a bit as he got older. :lol

Instead of swapping which pocket is wrong, Hot Toys could just mass produce the one pocket with the correct flap instead of producing two different pocket styles (the second one being wrong and unnecessary). Even if one pocket is supposed to be slightly smaller, I'd still prefer same-size pockets that are lined up correctly instead of same-size pockets that are designed inaccurately.

But do you really see Hot Toys doing that? It's possible. Either way the deluxe figure is going to be parted out so much that getting an extra pouch shouldn't be difficult, but it doesn't solve the size issue that McHaley brings up. There's also still the possibility that the way they fit on to the belt would look off if switched (if they're at an angle, say), which could require mods, etc.

We'll have to wait until this comes out to see what customizing occurs. I don't feel like much customizing happened with the ROTJ version, but more people care more about the ESB version and there have been more iterations so there should be some more experimentation.

I'm considering the deluxe since the extra parts are interesting and barely add to the cost of the figure. I never admittedly had a specific interest in the pre-production Fett. Wish they would fix the helmet/body proportions, then this would be a no-brainer.

Definitely removing some of Boba’s snacks from those over-stuffed pouches when he’s in hand. Makes him look all frumpy.

The weird thing to me is that when you remove the padding from under the jumpsuit on the ROTJ Fett, the body proportions are actually pretty decent. I have no idea why the padding was thought to be needed in the first place. It makes customizing an HT Boba a bit more difficult because the belts and codpiece are fitted to the padded dimensions. Frustrating; and the ESB version seems to be going with the same padding. I'm working on an ESB Boba using HT's ROTJ body (and plenty of other parts from that figure, after being modified and repainted). I'll post pics when I'm finished, but I'm really surprised at how everything looks on the stock body once the padding is removed. The chest armor flattens really nicely without the padding, instead of puffing out. I think the slimmer look of the legs also displays better than the padded version. As for the helmet: well . . . yeah. But at least they changed some things on it from the ROTJ one in an effort to get closer to screen accurate.

So I was astonished to find out years ago that the horns painted on promotional Fett's helmet are suppose to be eyes. No one on here finds that really odd? Horns on a helmet is a cooler idea than eyes. And I just don't get the idea that they were originally painted on with the intent of being eyes. They look nothing like eyes since the two ends don't even connect - and the no pupils thing as well. I know some helmets through history have had eyes on them as an intimidation/confuse your enemy factor..but these aren't that lol. They'll always be horns to me! Honestly, I think the coolest way to display this figure would be the promo look; but use the ESB cape, jet pack, right gauntlet & belt. So then your not reusing any parts from the Jedi Fett. It'd be the most unique look for those of us who own the first one; but that might be blasphemy. Then again, Boba did have a serious alcohol addiction and was never one for matching outfits.

Are most people buying the Deluxe verison here? Or is it a mixed bag?

Just curious. I wanted to just get the regular because I don't plan on using the alternative look at all, was curious what others were planning for their displays.

I’ve seen quite a few post they are getting the deluxe but I’m just getting the regular because I don’t care for the stuff that wasn’t used in the actual movie.

I got the deluxe cause I like more options for display. Plus I used reward points so it brought it way down anyway.

That's a bold statement.

But all these mistakes with Boba makes you wonder how the 2 largest companies in the business could do so by accident. I don't think it is. I await Legendary Scale Boba.

You might be being sarcastic, but ESB is obviously widely considered to be the better movie and where Fett makes his name/reputation with the capture of Han Solo. He has an actual storyline. In ROTJ, Fett's death is laughable to many. On pure aesthetics preference might be more split, but when the ROTJ version came out there were definitely lots of "I'll wait for the ESB version" comments.

The sad thing is this is already sort of Hot Toys V2 (the version where they make it clearly better so everyone has to repurchase), but what improvements there are are relatively minor.

Quick question (and sorry if it has been asked before) but is this figure's head too big or is the torso armor too small? Lined up parts of the helmet with the armor and things didn't match up right.

Looks more like the size of the chest armor is a little off, than the size of the head. The problem with comparisons like these are that each element is very different from the source material. So, it’s hard to relate and compare. Everything is going to be thrown off. Look at the proportions of the Fett’s right gauntlet. The whole shape and proportions are different than the source....dart needles and all. It’s hard to make figures like this look in proportion to themselves and accurate to the source material. In order to do that, you need accurate shapes and sizes all around.

I'm looking at that right gauntlet and it looks very snug fitting to the arm. I'm thinking a little artistic license is needed on a 1/6 scale figure to get good articulation for posing which may mean is being slightly oversized. As long as the proportion still look right enough when looking at the figure that's OK for me, even if it may be obvious through scrutiny on direct comparison images like these. The main thing for me there is that it needs some weathering and the thickness of that tube piece running into the sleeve is way off.

Omg. How did I not know those were dart needles all this time? Wow. I always thought he had to pull out a dart gun from one of his pouches. But look at that. Its on his wrist ready to go.
