Hot Toys are aware how the Boba Fett helmet actually looked. I believe the problem here is the usual HT problem, that they do slightly idealized versions of the characters. Just look at for instance their Predators, Aliens and Luke’s face. The original Fett helmet might look a bit goofy to a younger fan that is used to ultra idealized cgi movies, so they change it slightly to make it look a bit ‘cooler’. That’s such a shame as it looses character and authenticity. The real world, and also a galaxy far far away, is not perfect and that is what gives personality.
Just got Dengar and Zuckuss the other day and, though SSC have other problems, I don’t feel like they suffer from idealization. And that’s why I like their new stuff slightly better on the shelf... they actually remind me of the actual thrown together costume.
That said, of course I have preordered this guy and just hope that I’m wrong... but look, that’s the problem. We, the old fans that want the more clunky look, buy it anyways, so they are free to go for the (probably younger) customers who want a more stream lined version.
