I definitely wont be getting the battle damage version. This is what I been waiting for. Yippee!!! ANd War Machine

The thing is, no one knows what the new IM suits are capable of in the sequel, and I have an inkling that neither does HT, yet. So, how is anyone supposed to know what features this figure will have?

What I worry about is that the majority of their work on this figure and War Machine is already complete and the versions with all the as-of-yet unknown weapons and gizmos will be revealed at the end of the year.

A whole line of v2's and Hot Toys rushing it all out again? you'd think they would have learned from The Dark Knight with not enough resources material.

Oh they did learn from the Dark Knight series...........they learned they can pretty much sell any figure twice :monkey5

what he said :lecture

while to us it may seem that "they shoulda learned a lesson. they shouldn't have made figures before the movie," they're only doing that on purpose, to milk every penny out of us. we see the first figures, which often look great (...face it, the v1 joker looked awesome when we first saw it.) then after that they come out with a different version(s), they will "DX" the original version so that it has more of the cool gizmos we want, and it's more screen accurate.
all hot toys learned, is that they can squeeze money out of us really easily.

having said all that, i will still probly buy the original and a dx just so i can have a nice variant(s) :)

Other than the fact that its a better figure with the added articulations there are differences between this and the Mark III. Think of it the way Vader's costume changes from ANH to ESB to ROTJ, they are subtile but they are there and here there are a bunch of obvious ones that will stand out but in making the figure slimmer it will look like a progression towards being more streamlined next to one another.

Here is the thread with some of the differences.

Sure, there are SOME differences, but the question for me is: Are they enough to prompt me to buy one? Until we have better pictures/details, the answer is clearly: no!

Im glad they have started with a wide selection of characters, with more characters left over. If they do make a DX, very good chance it will not be a duplicate :joy

I think the overall form is pretty close - close enough that most audiences who go into IM2 probably won't notice the difference. But really, detail-wise it's a TOTALLY new suit. There's not one part that's the same. Some are small tweaks but some are significantly different.

I actually think this is a positive, not a negative. Those of use (like myself) who didn't get Mark III but want a "clean" version of armor with the circular Arc Reactor can get the Mark IV. Those who want every version can get the Mark IV. Those who don't really care about all the differences between the Mark III and the Mark IV and have the Mark III in some form don't have to bother!

Correct me if I'm wrong, but isn't the Mark IV almost identical to the Mark VI? The only differences being the diamond chestpiece on the Mark VI and some grey paint where there was gold and some gold paint where there was red? If the Mark IV came with an interchangeable chestplate and interchangeable upper arms and thighs, they could literally be one figure.

I'm puzzled by those who aren't interested in the Mark IV because they feel it's too similar to the Mark III, when in fact the Mark VI only has a few minor differences from the Mark IV.

Judging by the SSC maquette, the Mk VI is the main suit for the film, so I'd think that there will be at least 3 Iron Men from HT. 4, 6 and suitcase (5?).

lol, and people said Batmans suit was changed in The Dark Knight just to sell toys . .

I'm not seeing any mold differences besides the diamond chestpiece; everything else is just paint differences as far as I can tell.

The suit and poses of that suit really looks so sexy!

The more I look at this and then look back at Mark 3 it's like the BB original suit vs TDK suit.

Sleek vs techno like.

Yeah, the mkIV and VI are the same exact suit other than color variations and the chest piece. I posted this on OSW but I'll post it here as well:

On the subject of the similarity of the mkIII to mkIV the chest and head are very similar. There's a fair bit of difference on the chest but all the basic shapes are very close. That's why I'm thinking people feel the mkVI looks so much different than the III and the IV doesn't. The VI has a totally different chest which maybe makes how totally different the body is more obvious. That and even though the design of the suit is totally different on the IV it's painted very close to the III and the VI diverges more from that color scheme.

So most likely, the Mark VI figure will be to the Mark IV figure what the Battle-Damaged Mark III was to the original Mark III; an opportunity for Hot Toys to release an improved, slightly different version of the same mold.

I'm pretty sure they will release a Mark VI regular and a Mark VI Battle Damaged separately. The only suit that will be a real difference will be the Mark V (suitcase) suit. Maybe they'll charge less for the Mark VI?

The design seems to have quite a few new elements, but it's the articulation that has me most excited!

i agree with wookster, the new articulation is gunna rock! i never got why Hot Toys gave the first ones a rubber abdomen when it never bent at all? i think if it was just regular plastic the color fading wouldn t have happened
