Definitely a cool design, and a very silly scene.
The one thing that always bugged me was how implausible the shortening of the Batmobile interior is. What happened to the second seat? We don't see it eject from the vehicle at all. It just kinda disappears. How did the dashboard shorten in length and what happened to the rest of it? There's more but you get the idea 😂
Yeah. And how do the sides come off - there's no obvious seams denoting that they can detach.

My only complaint is that it needs more of a glossy finish.

I’ve built the model scale version of this and to be honest there’s no real point of reference, the robot car is semi gloss and the actual prop used is gloss black 🤷‍♂️

The finish for this actually looks pretty accurate. The Batmobile in Returns doesn't look as glossy as I've seen some toys make it, or the actual prop car that was repainted for public shows. It's barely glossier than 89.

Truthfully if it took Jazzinc for them to make some of this stuff I don’t mind. I’ve been back and forth on the Jazzinc Catwoman figures and while they’re nice I think they’re too expensive for me to justify. If Hot Toys does her and Penguin they’ll likely be less.

There are pros and cons to Hot Toys figures, but ultimately I know what to expect from them and their price points generally work better for me.

Well either it's 8 wheels or 4 incredibly wide wheels that are just as implausible.
Yeah it’s movie magic either way - the vehicle is clearly still wider than the width of one tire so either 4 more wheels magically appeared or the wheels magically got twice as wide.

Regarding the 8 wheels, the Batmobile could have been hiding the other 4 wheels somewhere even if implausible in regards to amount of space, just like how the canopy magically changed shape lol. I just remember thinking as a kid this scene made the Batmobile even cooler.

Lol well there would be no need for it to have 4 extra hidden wheels to make for 8; the idea behind the design was that it’s 4 wheels in line because that’s where they end up when it gets skinny.

Agreed. Love everything JazzInc is doing but I cannot get over those prices; $540 for a Catwoman that would be a $285 Hot Toys figure if they bothered to make her. I bet they’d make a mean Batmissile but who needs a $1,600 rendition of something that appears for 15 seconds in one film.

So the size and length actually looks to be pretty accurate. It's longer than the outdated HT 89 Batmobile, only 1.6cm shorter from the Jazzinc 89 Batmobile. Proper canopy shape and paint finish. If Jazzinc makes one I'm not sure what additions there would be to justify the higher price.

The extending tire gimmick seems to work opposite to how it should. The tires in the film are drawn in with those mechanical arms--so if they slide back out, it should be on the side with the bat logo, not the side with the arm.
HT has made the front mechanism such that it extends higher than the Missile's wheel well, so sliding out in the correct direction isn't possible as currently designed. Of course this could be easily fixed if HT cared about film accuracy, but you know they just don't lol...

Yeah the wheels with the batsymbol should be the ones that extend outward. Oddly it's correct on the right side of the vehicle but incorrect on the left. Unless all of the wheels are capable of extending but they're only showing the front-most wheel in each pair as having the ability.

I'd love to hold out for Jazzinc, but ultimately I just don't see there being enough interest for them to move forward with it, judging by the results of a recent poll.

Plus as much fun as I think this vehicle is, it's not something I really want to pay Jazzinc prices for, or that I care as much about being perfectly accurate like the regular 89.

Yeah I guess when they put twice as many wheels on the car as it actually has it makes sense that they'd get half of them correct. :lol

Yeah it’s more an extra display option to pair with the « regular » Batmobile. In that sense, contrary to the regular that gets visible inaccuracies, the bat missile from HT looks pretty flawless.
Once again I don’t collect anything from Returns but I have to admit that next to the regular, it will look super cool!

 I whipped up a little crude animation for how the wheels 'worked' in the movie versus how I think they work on the Hot Toy. I say 'worked' in the movie because - while this isn't totally to scale - you can see how impossibly wide the tires would have to be for it to really only be four tires. It's all movie magic.

Even if Hot Toys had kept it 8 wheels but made the wheel on the opposite side 'suck in' when it's partner extends out, that have been a good compromise. One could also argue though that this hardly matters since it's impossible to see both sides of the vehicle at the same time.
