I'm right there with you. I just don't switch them on enough to leave them in there and opening up the compartment one day and seeing that green corrosion everywhere would just be a real punch to the gut. I'm just going to leave them out and if someone wants to see them lit up I'll show them a pic online.lolThat's definitely overkill on my part, but I'd rather be safe than sorry.
My Mark III arc/neck batteries corroded.. but the arm ones are fine. I have a POTF2 At-At unopened in the box from what.. 1996 or so.. that have not corroded. Just luck of the draw I guess.
Well I just bought the other day from my comic shop the HT IRONMAN MARK IV and the helmet lights on the eyes stays on all the time. Tried switching it off. Messed with the batteries. Nothing
. So I just removed them and problem solved but no lights
Timely thread for me, having just had delivered the first figures I've ever owned that needed batteries.
I can't see the point of leaving the batteries in there for the rare occassion when I decide to turn them on, and I certainly don't want to have them corrode in the figure. And removing them to sit in a drawer for however long seems a waste of a perfectly good feature (and batteries).
I'm thinking about letting the LEDs on my IM and WM figs stay on, have the batteries run their course and then either toss them or replace them. Wonder how long they'll last, LEDs don't draw a lot of power...
When I get home tonight I'll switch them on, leave them run and report back to anyone interested on how long I got out of them.
What about the heat from the lights?
