At least with MJ, he's got drastically different looks because he physically changed so much over the years. He started out as a black child, and slowly mutated into a bizarre-looking white woman. Not even Joker could do that!
Much as our own "pet" choices would have been nice to see (except for those who wanted Avatar--I'm hoping HT will decide not produce any of those eyesores at all), this is a good business move. They need to capitalize on the MJ interest now, because as his death slowly fades from memory, interest in toy versions of him is going to go down.
We didn't need that many Jokers either....and people are still asking for nurse Joker too.

Rambo, Terminator, and others aren't in the same boat. They are probably going to be just as popular in 6 months or a year as they are right now, so why should Hot Toys rush things?
I understand that, but I think fans like you are similar to some of the hardcore Rambo fans we've seen here. Yeah, lots of people will buy MJ no matter when his figure is made, but some of the more casual fans won't (and I do think relatively casual fans will be buying now because he is in the public consciousness). And I think HT is trying to capitalize on that. I think the Heath Ledger Joker is the same. If HT would have waited until now to release his figure, I don't think he would have been the blockbuster success of a figure that he was.I'm going to have to politely disagree with that. Sure, the general public's interest will fade in the coming months and years, but they're not the ones buying the figures anyway. MJ fans are pretty rabid (and I say this as one of them) and have been through far worse things than a little thing like death. He's pretty much been dead to the world for the last five years anyway, and they're all still there!
I have to say... can we speed that process up? Look the man made Thriller, yes, one of the greatest albums of all time. BUT that doesn't change that fact that soon after he eventually became a troubled, decreased talent, self mutilated wack job who I also still believe was doing something he definately shouldnt have been doing with kids that he had no business with in a private setting. I for one am tired of hearing about him.... I want the media to let him die. Sad yea, but a fact of life.

Honestly, though, the majority of casual MJ fans won't buy it even now. In the greater scheme of things, they tend to be music fans and not so much figure collecting. Of course there are some, but they tend to be in the minority. Just look at the Billie Jean figure, which did perfectly well in spite of the fact that MJ had done bugger all in the years prior to its release. And that one's not even a good likeness.
MJ fans have a hole now and they're filling it with little Michael.
You may be right, but I recall the Billy Jean tribute MJ sitting at BBTS for ages with no one buying. And those were produced in such low numbers that the supply couldn't approach demand after MJ's death. Now they sell for absurd, $700+ prices on eBay.
Ewwwwwwwww.
Well, maybe we'll get Ted next time. Sorry your guy didn't make it.Stop justifying what the majority of fans see as a mistake. I want official confirmation that this is DX03. A lot of people are pissed off that this figure snuck into the DX line.
Get over it. People are still talking about Elvis despite the fact that he was a pill-popping hedonist. Bottom line is Michael Jackson did more good than "suspected" bad and like Elvis, will still be as popular 10 years from now as he was 20 years ago.
