And since you don't own it, you have no idea what it looks like in reality, and have no real ground to judge it.

So, owning this figure is my only real way to get a hands on look?..come on, you're not that smart.

I'd rather HT do a ROTJ Vader as a deluxe. It's the only OT Vader that could have PERS.

I rather they just release Vader as normal. PERS is a waste on Vader even with a Sebastian Shaw PERS. I mean, how many people are going to display him helmetless?

Even if they are, the PERS is really wasted on this figure. I rather they keep Vader normal so it will be more affordable. Knowing HT, this SW line will not be cheap.

...if you've had your hands on the figure and you think it looks like cartoonish, I'd say the basis for your judgment is suspect.

Or maybe it's your vocabulary. The look on SSC's Yoda conveys positive emotion, as opposed to negative, or neutral, which was how the majority of his time in ESB. He doesn't look serious or grumpy. He looks satisfied.

There is nothing in the detail work that deserves to be criticized as cartoonish (cartoons being characterized by their lack of secondary details). The detail is thorough. The likeness is accurate. It's not a rough approximation or lacking in realism.

I realize I'm just a simple halfwit, but does that clear things up for you?

The sculpt is a little fattish around the cheeks and the paint is meh, too much dark green IMO.

You don't own a good amount of Hot Toys figures i bet, you can't really see what i'm seeing.

That's called smiling.

Certainly your prerogative, but I think it's excellent.

Only three. You don't think that's a good control sample to know that Yoda would be done with finer detail and better paint than Sideshow's? I do. But the difference would be miniscule to most people and the odds of Hot Toys getting to make a Yoda anytime in the relatively near future are slim. You might get one in 3-5 years if you're lucky, but whenever you do I will be happy for you. I won't even insult the flaws it will have when all is said and done.

I always thought the Sideshow Yoda looked like a Yoda Hot Toys would pull off if that makes sense. I really don't see what's wrong with it. I think that specialized body is ingenious. Now, granted, I think a Hot Toys paint application would be better but I still think the Sideshow Yoda is solid. In fact, I think it would make a great companion piece with this upcoming Bespin Luke.

Maybe it's just me. :huh

Of course it is. You own too many Hot Toys figures and it's clouded your mind. All you see is Hot Toys quality, wherever you look.

The world's not like that man. Snap out of it. There are Sideshow figures out there. WITH SIDESHOW QUALLITY!!!!!

:panic:

Sideshow did a great job mind you with having this figure fit into their pre-Hot Toys collaborated line. I really think only the SSC Clones would look great next to Hot Toys Star Wars figures, and maybe SSC Boba Fett too.

Quite possibly, all my old SSC Star Wars figures(mostly OT/PT Jedi and Sith) are going on a shelf by themselves or sold off if Hot Toys starts pumping out more Jedi figures and Sith, just the clones will mix in really well with Hot Toys.

I think the Palpatine figures, Old Ben and Lando would still hold up. The aliens too (all the way back to Kit Fisto). But yeah, Han Luke and Leia would have some issues. I don't mind the first Obi-wan, Anakin or Mace Windu, but Hot Toys would be a major upgrade.

I disagree about Yoda though. He's awesome, and I'd take him over anything Hot Toys has done in the past 5 years.

Palpatine and Old Ben i agree, they are great sculpts(especially Old Ben) and the paint is actually well done.

You would take him in terms of being a quality figure, in terms of being a representation of the character, or in terms of being a character and license you just like more than anything HT has done?

A combination of the last two. Hot Toys are generally unappealing to me because I have little interest in their licenses. I recognize their sculpting ability and the superiority of their factory paints, but I haven't seen anything that is that much better than Yoda in anything they've done (last five years being their best). As a figure, I get far more enjoyment out of Yoda than I would an Iron Man or Predator, and there is nothing about the quality that makes me feel that he is a lesser figure. I won't say he's a better figure than what they've done, but there's nothing about what they've done that would make me choose any of them over Yoda.
