Hands down the best ive ever seen this figure displayed / photographed , from a straightforward perspective that is.

Re: Hot Toys's DX04 - Enter the Dragon: Bruce Lee 1/6th scale Collectible Figure

This is the classiest way to display figures, forget backdrops and all that other crap... This gives the impression that each figure is special.

I have way too many figures and far too many of them that are not iconic enough to display them like this though

:goodpost:

It was Rory's collection that inspired me to set mine up similarly, 1 day when I get shelves all put up I'll be able to return to the 1 figure/1shelf look, instead of cramming 2 or 3 at a time :monkey1

Re: Hot Toys's DX04 - Enter the Dragon: Bruce Lee 1/6th scale Collectible Figure

Thanks guys. Spent a lot of time working those lights and wires to get it tight. As for the DX base, I didn't do any modding to make it black, I just didn't add on the included cardboard piece that covers it and left it blank.

Where did you get those light and how difficult was the set up? It looks really good!!!!

Re: Hot Toys's DX04 - Enter the Dragon: Bruce Lee 1/6th scale Collectible Figure

That would be a great goal indeed, I too would love a display like that, trouble is to get it to look like that at the rate my collection is going I might need to buy a wing of the Guggenhiem Museum!

I'll let rory speak to his own setup but from the looks of it I think it's ikea dioder LED light strips. I think they are about 50 bucks for a pack of 4. They are great, piece of cake to set up it's what I use for my detolfs at my home in Canada. My NY display is much less impressive.

Got BL all set up and outta the box finally. There's so many options to display this guy. I haven't suited up the EX body yet. I'm gonna need another shelf soon.

love the clean look there! always wanted something like that but i only got one room in the house for my toys

Really didn't like HJL's unkempt appearance there. If ever I'll try to do Silver Fox from Secret Rivals. But John Liu first.

yeah he looks scruffy in that film, but guess that was how they wanted him to look like; a dirty low-life knife for hire. :lol

That requires a lot space for a very large and growing 1/6 collection.

Re: Hot Toys's DX04 - Enter the Dragon: Bruce Lee 1/6th scale Collectible Figure

he's the hitman in Drunken Master?

Yup! Hwang Jang Lee played the villain in that movie also.

Wow, I just saw that movie for the first time last week. All these years and I had never seen it. I love that scene where he is just talking the smack and whipping Jackie Chan's @$$! 'Sit down, Stand up', 'Maybe you should call me father'. Thank you Netflix!

i think that type of scene somewhat sets the tone for most of Jackie's movies at that time. always get beat up and humiliated by the villain, then train like mad, then beat the living hell out of the villain in the end.

typical, but oh so sweeeeeeeet.:)

Re: Hot Toys's DX04 - Enter the Dragon: Bruce Lee 1/6th scale Collectible Figure

I want to buy this figure because the whole package is really nice but I just don't see bruce in the head sculpts, something is just off. Maybe its better in person but the older enterbay versions look spot on to me when compared to this. Did arnie kim work on this figure? And if so I am surprised

Re: Hot Toys's DX04 - Enter the Dragon: Bruce Lee 1/6th scale Collectible Figure

He also sculpted the Hot Toys Superman. It was announced he joined Hot Toys sometime last year i think.

Yeah, i definitely wanna pick up the casual Bruce just havent got the money at the minute. Would quite like the suit version too, but the matching headsculpts put me off a bit.

Thanks! I have the same Detolf shelves and that lighting options looks amazing.

Re: Hot Toys's DX04 - Enter the Dragon: Bruce Lee 1/6th scale Collectible Figure

Yep, they're the dioder lights. It's like they were made to go in the detolf and light 1/6 figures. Wonder if it's a Swedish thing. Must love their figs a whole lot too.

I've gotten a couple messages about how to set up the lights and hide the cords. Though it's not related directly to BL, I'll post it here.

Ingredients: 1 dioder led light strip; 1 ikea detolf shelf

1. Cut off about an inch of the plastic strip that is used to hold the two glass panes of the detolf together. When you assemble the shelf, this gap should line up at the bottom of the shelf. This is the gap the wires of the dioder strip will exit through (you could exit out the pre-drilled hole at the top, but some of the bottom light wires won't be long enough. Likewise, you could exit out the front glass door, but they'd stand out a bit). IMPORTANT - you will have to place the wires through the gap in this strip while assembling the shelf (specifically before you place the wooden base on). the ends of the lines won't fit through when it's closed up, so it has to be done before...

si%2525283%252529.JPG

2. Once the shelf is assembled, it's time to start running the wires down. Starting with the top one, I cover it with some dark tape (electric). Attaching the light in the center of the top wood panel, and running the cord to the back of the base...

si.JPG

3. I then tape the cord up on the backside of the metal rod that runs down the back of the shelf. The cord from the next shelf is then run along the bottom of the metal rod the glass pane sits on, to join the cord from the shelf above on it's way down...

si%2525281%252529.JPG

4. I repeat this task with each shelf after, running and taping the cords to the backs and bottoms of the metal rods all the way down, where they sneak out the bottom back of the shelf, nearly unseen, through the gap created earlier.

si%2525282%252529.JPG

It's all pretty simple and straightforward. But very tedious and time consuming, at least for someone as fidgety as me. Nonetheless, when the task is complete, voila...

Awesome...I live by an Ikea and I'm going to get the lights tomorrow! The pics are great and they save me the time of figuring how to hide the wires. Good job!
