I just bought a second with the $20 off code. I got it for the slim chance of bespin escape leia and esb Chewbacca. Hahahaha like those will ever happen.

Also, this is probably the only chance in our lifetime for a bespin lando.

I could definitely see this skyrocketing in price about 2-3 years from now when availability dries up. Not sure another 1/6 Lando is ever coming. As prices continue to rise we move closer to an unfortunate place where it only makes sense for companies to produce the tier 1 characters like Vader, Luke, Leia, and Han.

Parted out figures don't seem to be a thing in China/Hong Kong anymore right? At least on Ebay.

I used to be able to easily construct figures piece by piece around the launch of a Hot Toy, but those sellers don't seem to exist anymore, or the ones that do are so outrageously expensive that you're basically paying the price for an entire figure just for a single head or body.

I guess the market used to be a lot more fair?

I check eBay pretty frequently for newly listed items and I agree I don't think I've seen as many of those breakdowns as I used to.

We really need a third party to get involved and tackle all of the droids and aliens hot toys will never make. It won’t happen, but it’s needed.

I don't really get why Sideshow isn't doing creatures/aliens themselves. They've got the molds, pretty much everything goes for $100 over the old retail price, so they can charge $250 for them and people will still get them. I just don't get it.

It's weird how knockoff companies in China do knockoff Marvel figures and custom figures but not Star Wars aliens and figures like imperials and hoth troopers.

I bought a knockoff Alfred from the Nolan trilogy last week. It looks fine and isn’t a dramatic drop in quality. Some company could make a killing with aliens and droids.

Yep. Even the parting out websites in the US are too expensive now, the international shipping costs especially. One of them wanted to sell me a foot peg for $100US!

I still think SSC lost the SW 1/6 license. The new animated figs seem to suggest they have a sub-license to do animated only.

They do keep reissuing older SW items so I assume you get to continue selling items previously produced under license.

It is a such a sad thing they didn't do more creatures. Though I do doubt many people would pay $250+ (we do seem to be heading for $300 standard fig prices by late next year) for a lot of the SW creatures. Maybe Greedo, but not on most creatures. SSC always seemed to be ahead of HT on prices.

I have bought none. Yet.
It's one that would have bought tears to my eyes if it'd had been one of those bullseye likenesses. But alas, we get what we get. HT has done it's Lando and likely won't return to Lando for a long time. A skiff or General Lando has zero chance.

If I can get this for $180 or less on ebay I might bite. Otherwise, my ESB shelf will go wanting... but without ESB Han, who cares?

After the Leia dress, I have no interest in dealing with Lando's cape. My focus has returned to mostly ANH.

Lando was a must-get for me but I believe that there's been an over-all drop in quality from Hot Toys. Some collectors have previously mentioned that they have lost some of their top sculptors as one possible reason but that only covers one aspect. While we've gotten some amazing figures lately, I've felt that there have been other figures that barely if at all meet the levels of quality from figures several years old. With the rise in pricing, my interests (and funds) have been directed elsewhere. I'm seriously considering culling my Star Wars figure collection and limit it to just my few favorites. I think Wor-Gar's idea is where I'm headed, as well.

Do Star Wars Hot Toys ever sell that cheaply anymore? I haven't done much ebaying lately but I did see that Jawa set that nobody liked is now going for north of $300 now.

If you are patient and thorough you can usually get these for $30 or more off.

I don;t suspect there's too many Landos out there though. But nows the time. In two months it will be too late.

I can't see why or how they'd have a sublicense to do animated only, they're releasing plenty of statues too including The Child and a PF Ahsoka. Limiting your license to animated 1/6 but then realistic statues doesn't make sense. Lucasfilm is still going to take the same %. I also don't think you can keep producing figures from an old license or else you'd anyone who held any license would pump out old stuff.

I think plenty of people would pay $250 for some of their old releases since many of them go for $300+ now. Greedo goes for $4-500, gamorrean guards $3-400+.

I've seen the Incinerator Trooper go for around $200 I think, but not much. Not too many named characters get cheap.

You'd have to assume statues and 1/6 articulated would be totally separate licenses. And the proof is in SSC's actions: if they still had a super-expensive main 1/6 SW license, they'd be cranking out new figures. But they haven't shown a new realistic SW 1/6 fig in years ( I believe the last few were Jabba, Lando Skiff and the Yoda V.2.)

The fact that all SSC is doing in SW 1/6 is animated is what suggests to me that's all they can do. What else explains them not showing any realistic SW 1/6... in years? Makes no sense.

And just because a miniscule number of collectors will pay sky-high eBay prices for a SSC Greedo, Hammy or Gammy doesn't mean thousands of collectors would pay somewhat similar prices for a new figure (ie say $450 vs $300 for a Greedo.) It's really an apples and oranges comparison.

Not sure SSC really could re-release figs like Greedo because it's pretty dated and produced too long ago (12 year old figure) so would require a pretty top-to-bottom redo. Figs like Bossk/IG were probably only 4 years old when they got re-releases.
