Hot Toys First Blood Rambo, Rocky, Mr. T

The beauty of Rambo is a common trait of Rocky, which is heart. Granted, First Blood was more about putting his foot down and saying enough of the harassment the vets were getting, but Rambo 2 and 3 were very heart motivated; he saught to free the P.O.W.s, he took vengeance for his lost love, he risked all to save his friend and mentor, and fought for the freedom of a nation in which he found kinship and brotherhood. Rambo is a selfless character, that's what makes it great to watch him, he does the right thing and kicks ass all over the place doing it.

I agree 100%. The first Rambo is one of my favorite movies of all time. Thats why I am so excited to finally be getting this figure. Its the best Rambo in the series and I will finally have a Rambo from HT in my collection

If you can afford it and get your hands on one, the Rambo 2 is most impressive as well, though all around I would agree the First Blood figure shows a clear improvement by HT on the sculpt and all, and based on some early shots, Rambo 3 looks nothing short of a stellar representation of the film. What would be cool with DA's repaint of yours is if you had a Trautman you could put the coat on him and get the hauled away at the end of the film look, or have him with Trautman when "Nothing is over!"

Josh that is fantastic! Looks so much better with that five-o-clock shadow. How did you do that? And the sweat stain on the chest looks very real too. Man, that looks just like Stallone now. Bravo!

First Blood is a great movie, but my absolute favorite part of it has nothing to do with the film persay, but it's the main theme, It's a Long Road, Goldsmith just did a great job on that number, it is one of my top 5 favorite themes from any movie, it's just so powerful and sounds beautiful, I actually used to rewind (back in the VHS days) the begining over and over to listen to that theme before I got the soundtrack, for me, Rambo is Sly and Goldsmith, those two elements made the films rock.

I agree Maulfan. Don't forget Richard Crenna. Without Goldsmith and Crenna in Rambo 4 it won't feel like a Rambo film.

Thanks Dave!! Yeah, the shadow is a hard thing to do. I started with a watered down Brownish black...painted mostly on the jawbone and chin.. and rubbed upwards to blend. I then added more paint and did a little bit of brushing here and there to thicken it out. I let that dry and finished it off with a watered down wash of the skin tone. Give it that "in the skin" look that stubble has.

It takes a lot of time and going back and forth with the shades until you have what you want, just be patient and it's a lot easier...

True that, but as has been said before, there is the hope that Sly will follow Rambo 4 in Rocky Balboa fashion and stick to character roots and coordinate the score to utilize Goldsmith's character tracks. Another favorite theme of mine from those films was the one first heard when Co breaks Rambo out of the Vietnamese camp and they go running through the jungle, later reused during the helicopter battle in that film, then repeated in Rambo 3 when John gets Trautman out, and for the end when John plays chicke with a Russian chopper.

I'll be very curious to see what sort of emotional dynamic is played in the plot of Rambo 4, 3 left with him pretty much finding peace in himself, so it'll be interesting to see how the emotions are played as he gets back into the game.

I think that's part of the beauty of the piece, it's not only elegantly composed, but it has a versatility so you can slow it real down and give it a deeper, contemplative feel like when Rambo ponders his conversation with Trautman in Rambo 3 about the mission in the Buddhist temple, or as you said, speed it up and give it a bit more power to make it a more action sounding piece. It's a lot like the Jaws theme, it's symbolic of Rambo and even acts as a fill in for him when he's offscreen. In First Blood, as they all walk away from the caved in mine shaft, you see Trautman looking around with a clip of the Long Road music played and when you see the film for the first time, it adds to the realization that although Trautman puts on a nice "that's the end of Rambo" speech, he knows better and he's waiting for his boy to reemerge like the amazing soldier he knows him to be.

Oh, I'd love a First Blood HT figure, with the head sculpt from the RAMBO 3 figure. Never liked the teeth showing version. Although I can see it would work for the machine-gun-holding-in-one-arm-ARRRGHHHHH-yelling scene lol
