Man, give me Terminator, Robocop, Alien and Predator, and I will most definitely buy them.

I think there are only a few of collectors of 80's or 90's properties left. I don't know in states or europe, but in most part of asia, it's quite rare to see someone still collect or share terminator, alien, predator, etc.

Last time I show some of my marvel hot toys to my nephews, they said it was cool. Next to terminator, or predator and they ask what the hell is this. Next question is how old are you.

I think you may have overlooked the 1989 batman movie. It sure looks like HT associates that with printing money.

Again, I speak from my perspective. Though HT batman 89/returns line fares better here than most 80/90's. The market for those old franchises is almost none.
Even before covid, it's very hard to sell batman dx08, returns, jokerdx09. The secondary market price for those never rises much compared to batman from nolan trilogy/batfleck which explain why ht keep revisit bale/affleck batman line.

I would say over the last few years Hot Toys has had some boring releases but recently they put out some figures I’ve been excited about. The Pennywise, DK Rises Batman, Mando Luke, Mark 3 Ironman, Robocop, and possibly an ‘89 Batman really has me excited to see what’s next.

I think modern Hollywood is partly to blame for HT's uninspired output recently. The quality of movies has gone downhill, so enthusiasm for collecting from those movies is pretty low. In addition, there's been very little lately, in the way of cool designs, whether it's creature design, costumes or vehicles. We've had a lot of variations of something we've already seen before. We were completely spoiled in the 80's.

I'm glad Hot Toys is giving something other than Star Wars and Marvel to collectors. But....it's quite telling everybody loses it when they get a re-release or a repaint of a figure that's been done before by Hot Toys. When you are starving and somebody throws you a bone, you will chew it up like it's the best bone ever.

They did make platoon, something you really didnt expect. But their hands are full with SW marvel and dc. They probably had quotas to meet before their license expires.

It's been nearly a decade but I'm still sore they never brought the Lone Ranger to market. Yes, I know the movie flopped, but they could have done him as a convention exclusive like Resurrections Neo. A lot of those who bought Tonto would have picked him up.

I would love a Lone Ranger but this guy? Absolutely no way. I would look at him and keep thinking of all the truly horrendous things the actor has purportedly done.

Yeah, this is something to consider too. The market for those classic films is less at this point versus more modern franchises.

That and if there are new entries in those franchises they’re rarely very good, Prey was an exception but it didn’t even get a theatrical release.

"Purportedly" is the key word. And while I don't condone his alleged behaviour, I can separate the character and performance from the actor.

Who knows, maybe when Disney have drained the Marvel and Star Wars well dry, they'll revisit the LR.

I don’t see anyone giving flack. Just stating simple facts. The franchises from the eighties and nineties still have their fan bases, but those people are also aging and a lot probably aren’t the target demographic for companies who make these collectibles.
