I’m sure there is a ton of silly stuff in those Dalton movies isn’t there? The chase across the ice seems pure Bond for example. Dalton was more serious than the others I agree but I thought in Living Daylights especially he always seemed to have a twinkle in the eye and reminded me a lot of Connery in that one.
While I appreciate what they were trying to do at the time, I think they overcorrected trying to get away from the campiness of the Moore films. After seeing his predecessors he just didn't feel like Bond to me.

He always comes off as more somber or dour, even when he's trying to be playful/humorous. It's not that there wasn't any fun, he did ride in a cello case after all, but it just wasn't the same. When he did those things it just felt out of place for that version of the character to do.

Then Brosnan came in and made Bond fun again. I can watch and enjoy even the worst of the Connery, Moore, and Brosnan films just for their portrayal of the character alone. Dalton, not so much.

In the end though that's one of the great things about Bond. He's been around for so long, played by multiple actors, with a variety of different tones that there is pretty much something for everybody to enjoy.

Dalton didn't bother me, but the cheapness of the movies and the terrible direction is what killed both Dalton outings for me. It's like watching a bad TV movie from the 80's.

Fair enough, I hated Moore so we basically have the opposite view! Nothing wrong with different opinions.

Errr, I thought the action was pretty decent? Gilbraltar. The ice sequence. The cargo net out the plane. The truck at the end of LTK.

I thought he made an okay Bond, but he wasn't cool enough. Always seemed to have an undertone of some anxiety. I will say that the Living Daylights is one of my favorite Bond films with the story and action.

Hot Toys trolls us in so many ways, and this would be the ultimate troll. Artisan exclusive edition of 100 (costs $800), and the only James Bond figure to get any release whatsoever.
They are the Troll over the bridge (hand out, looking for all your money before allowing safe passage) and under the bridge (blocking you from taking an alternate, less-safe route forcing you to wait for third party option). Both of these Trolls by the way...are not seamless.

GoldenEye was originally supposed to be a Dalton movie. I loved Brosnan in it but Dalton would have absolutely crushed it in that film.
Wow! You just cracked open a great concept, if you could Bondswap any of the films which would you choose? A Brosnan Skyfall would've worked if Pierce came back, not in his prime, but as old man Bond.

I must confess that _my_ long-held dream would have been to have Connery return in a later film as the _Bond_villain_! I waited so long for this but now it’ll never be. Sigh.

But in answer to your question, I’d choose to have Connery appear as Bond in _every_ film that was produced after his tenure!

Terrible news. They'll destroy it just like Disney did Star Wars. I'm actually shocked Barbara Broccoli and Michael Wilson are doing this. They don't have to worry about casting anyone now.
