I'm really starting to think it's just me.....people keep posting reviews and pictures telling us how disappointing or bad the figure looks, and all the while I'm thinking "wow, that looks really good". I'm scratching my head with all the negativity.

Must be a "love it or hate it" figure I guess.

Oh, and I'm willing to bet that if I picked up 20 TA figures and compared the sculpts, I could probably find as much miniscule moulding variation between them as is being repetitively rolled out here.

No, I’m in the same boat. I’m looking at most pics of this figure and thinking I’m so glad I’ve ordered it.

I dislike the defence of " wait until you see the figure in hand, in hand it looks better ". You looked at x25 zoomed in HD images, comparison images between the actress and this head, the prior version and this head, but you will only truly see the likeness when you have the figure in hand and the face is an inch tall looking at you from 7ft away on a shelf.

I am really annoyed at this. I sold the BVS version in anticipation of this, i now decided im not getting this and as of yesterday re-ordered the BVS one.

Really?! This is so MUCH better than the BvS version and even with the issues some keep tirelessly pointing out, the JL headsculpt shares a better likeness with Gadot than the BvS, especially when you compare them side-by-side.

Can't wait 'til Sideshow finally sends this out, which BTW, looks like it'll be delayed as they pushed back (again) my final payment to 10/25.

:lecture

Can't wait, and I agree, if you don't like it, fine, make your point, we get ya, but this incessant negative posting is ruining it for those eagerly anticipating the release. BTW, I place most weight to those who have a figure in hand. That's just me. :)

This my favorite video so far...

Yep, great review of the figure! Now I'm even more impatient to receive this in my hands.

How do you not get it?

Do you take “25 zoomed in HD images” of all your figures and then pack them up in boxes and then only enjoy them from the pics you took?

Of course it makes sense to suspend your final judgement on a figure until you have it in hand and displayed on your shelf under display lighting.

Why would i buy a figure that i have studied multiple HD videos and images of and determined i think looks bad? I get theres some people who paid over the odds in order to get it early having an agenda and trying to convince other people it isnt a dud with the phrase " it looks better in hand " as to not feel so bad about their own figure and dupe others into buying it as there is strength in numbers, and there is other people who are just hopeful. But its delusional. No it doesnt look better, It cant. It only appears better because your eyes cant see zoomed in HD quality images. Having the figure in hand wont stop her looking like she has the eyes of a hammerhead shark, that shes had her head squished in a vice, that she has a huge nose, her hair is too long, thick and straight and rusty coloured.

I agree that if you don't like it, don't buy it. But things do appear different in person to pictures

I don't think anyone has an agenda, do any of you genuinely care what other people think? If I like something, great, couldn't care less if anyone else likes it too, that has absolutely no impact on my life.

"Better in hand" is absolutely a thing though. I'm not arguing whether that applies to this figure or not (I don't have it), but I have bought many figures in the past based on seeing it in person after being initially dissuaded by online pictures and reviews.

Seeing an inch high headsculpt on a 50 inch TV under spotlights isn't the same visual illusion that is created by having a figure seen at real size under better/natural lighting.

As much as I agree with you about figures looking different from pictures to in person but this looks really off regardless in person and in pictures. Yes I agree that it looks better than the BVS but why did it digress from the TA to JL? IMO, if you cannot wait till they release the WW84 pick this up. If you can wait then wait till the WW84 releases. I'm sure they would have perfected the headsculpt by then.

...and that's my point.

We buy these pieces to add a new 12" figure to our collections. For what meets the eye. Not for what can be magnified (and often distorted) in images. Would you actually pass on a figure that looks great on display, but knowing that a 10x blow-up of the head sculpt revealed an otherwise imperceptible flaw? Of course not.

What's missing in this equation is the patience to wait an see how the figure is actually rendered in hand.

Now, don't misunderstand. If high-quality, responsibly photographed images show the figure to look absolutely AWFUL, then no one is going to bet that it will look anything other than awful in hand. But, except for a few fringe opinions, that does not seem to be what we have here.

So chill, wait, and see... or you may have to pay ridiculously inflated after-market prices if you change your mind and want her back.

P.S. How many HT threads now cover this exact narrative? Expectation/Anticipation/Freak-Out!/Calm/Best Figure of the Year List! :rotfl

I don't know anyone around me that collects hot toys, and the only comic shop that deals in toys at all doesn't carry hot toys. So seeing a figure in hand is quite difficult.

I to see little value in super close up shots of the face you never actually see in hand. Hold the figure as close to your face as you can and it distorts way before you get to that level of detail. What matters to me is how it looks on the shelf from regular viewing distance a few feet away.

That said "it looks better in hand" has become an overused cliche. I suppose all figures do to some extent but you don't see it said about the really great sculpts. The best ones Nicholson Joker, Jack Sparrow, any of the Batfleck's etc look like shrunken down versions of themselves. None of the WW have reached that level yet, fingers crossed for the WW84 figure.

I agree with you it's a love or hate it figure but I believe that doesn't matter what other people say or review just as long as you are happy. For me I see the subtle differences in the jaw line and the nose and I think those minor changes make the difference in the headsculpt of the figure. There is a picture online which I will try to get of the TA version with the tiara and rooted hair. And to me that is perfect. I'll look for it and post

I actually did this mod and have posted pics in this forum

I agree, great pictures Ptapang. But probably take pics also, backing off a little with Photoshop.
I think a lot of people would like your modded TA, just like Jingobells.

As much as I love the pic you posted, I do agree its hard to discern the difference between that and the stock JL sculpt, with the heavy photoshopped image.
Thanks. Not heavily "photoshopped" mostly photography.

I haven’t been following this closely, I assume this got released in Asia recently? How soon do we expect Sideshow to ship?

Thanks!

Next month..SSC usually sends a two weeknotice that it’s arriving ..since there is only next week left of Sept, unless we get a notice later this week or next week , I’m picturing either first week of Oct or mid October...I don’t see it taking it any later than October unless they really make changes on her.

I order thru my local comic shop, so I don’t get a notice. Thanks for the update though. I’ll watch the thread for when you guys get notices.

Stay alert..trust me you’ll see a lot of people posting arrival notices or that they received them quickly as soon as SSC sends them. :lol

Yeah, I just wasn’t following this discussion until today, so I didn’t know if they notices went out yet. Thanks though! [emoji106]
