Re: Hot Toys-MMS: X-Men 1st Class

I dunno. I like Beast myself, but just don't see it being a big hit. It would sell to some, but not to nearly the same level that Predator would. That's the nature of the collectible community. Look across scales and types of figures released. NECA produces Predator out the wazoo and they sell. Hasbro might release a Beast figure once in a blue moon to go along other Marvel characters. Iron Man has his own line of figures. So does Wolvie, and Spidey. Magneto and Prof. X are relegated to being in series 5 of the Wolverine line if they're lucky.

Re: Hot Toys-MMS: X-Men 1st Class

Aside from X-Men, Hot Toys SDCC has sucked imo

There was only 3 new figures, 2 of those were avenger-related, one was a remake, none of them were original characters.

The only other things were more batmobile vehicles. The '66 was the only geniune surprise

No X-Men
No Prometheus
There was nothing new from their current/established non-superhero licenses
No Robocop

Seriously lacking this year

Yeah I didn't see anything unexpected that I would want. My wallet is relieved though.

Yeah, I think the less than overwhelming success of Prometheus has probably also made HT think twice about it. I figure we'll see a couple figures from that line and that will be about it.

Re: Hot Toys-MMS: X-Men 1st Class

Im starting to think we won't even see figures from Prometheus.

lol wish I was the same, removing Angelica and Jim Gordon from the equation there's still the 66 Batmobile, Golden Age Cap & Expendables 2 Barney Ross that I now need to add to my PO list :cuckoo:

The prometheus reveal said figures would be shown in the fall. So expect them then.

Really? No chance of more reveals in the next day or two? SUCKS

66 Batman HT by far the one and greatest surprise:clap

Re: Hot Toys-MMS: X-Men 1st Class

Wow people think the sky is falling. Sure, the no show at SDCC is disappointing, but I do not recall any large volume of reveals last year either. That came at one of the Asian fairs.

X-Men figures from any film will sell decently whenever they release these. Same with Prometheus. In fact it makes complete sense to delay them after the glut of Batman and Avengers items over the next 6 months. Revealing these for release after February 2013 will actually boost their sales form less direct competition with other Hot Toys figures.

Green Lantern was cancelled because the film was awful and the outfit was difficult to do. In contrast we have recent confirmation of this licence going forward and are 99% certain we saw James McAvoy being sculpted. Relax.

:goodpost: Star Puffs

However once they've done Avengers and Batman cashcows and it's finally time for their neglected licenses i can't help but think then comes the Iron Man 3, Thor 2, Cap 2, Batman reboot... blah blah blah versions

And licenses that aren't those get once again get shifted aside :(

Batman will run forever with TDK, TDKR, Batman Returns and 66 Batman items coming. Include the inevitable Batman Forever and Batman and Robin everything in its path will be squashed. :lol

.as it should.....the Batman RULES (cliche intentional):wave

Re: Hot Toys-MMS: X-Men 1st Class

Batman is great, i really like Batman

But instead of doing Batman and X-Men, they do Baman and some other Batman. Fine at least that means next it'll become Batman and some other Batman and finally X-Men. But then it actually becomes, Batman and some other Batman, and yet another Batman and no X-Men :slap

So it could be Batman fans having a great time and X-Men having a good time, but is instead, Batman fans in absolute heaven and X-Men fans in hell :dunno

I am not saying the market will be completely quiet. But this broad eight-figure Avengers release, unprecedented for Hot Toys, will be past. Cap 2 and Thor 2 are certainly not going to have a fraction as much hype as Avengers.

Iron Man, Batman, Predator and Terminator have all been steady franchises for years and we still get releases like Sweeney Todd or Alice (RE) or City Hunter.

They only have so much capacity and I am sure the Avengers and TDKR have pushed those to their limits. We all suspect this is going to be Magneto, Xavier and out. I would love a Mystique, but I am sure they will find time for two figures with no major technical challenges.
