Thats troubling they're already scalping him. If my memory serves me right, they've been known to cancel pre-orders at the pre-order price saying 'we didnt' get our allotment' and then turn around and sell the figures they got at a higher price. So if anyone ordered any Avengers from them, its probably best to look elsewhere so you don't end up with that scenerio.

I can tell you, knowing this. I will never buy from them. What sucks is they are only making what $10 more?

All it takes is a handful of people that had it happen too. I just order from SSC only. Keeps even things at one place.

The plus side to buying from SSC is that they can easily replace broken or damaged items and have great customer service. I just wish their prices were a little better.

Geez, I didn't realize they did this tactic.

There is another etailer that tried to do this with me, when the 19" NECA Predator figure was up for preorder.
They realized how popular it had become during the preorder phase and decided to try and make more money (closer to launch) by explaining how shipping costs have gone up.

They're called Amoktime and I'll never buy from them!!

I have no idea about prices from other places. I only buy from a handful of places. This way I don't buy to much. SSC customers service is so so.

Before I got into Hot Toys stuff and 1/6 scale doo-dads, I ordered almost exclusively from bigbadtoystore. Their prices were okay and they seemed to get everything on time and were fast with shipping. I never had to deal with their customer service or return any products.

I've dealt with Sideshow customer service a few times now and they were excellent. I had a few things that arrived slightly damaged and they sent me replacement parts with almost no questions asked. I really really appreciate that.

I was buying Hot Toys figures exclusively from Sideshow until this mess with Nick Fury and Hawkeye selling out before the release date. Something smells fishy about this. I'd rather believe that whatever is going on with supply is...I dunno...some "honest" issue.

But if it continues (items selling out before release, pre-orders getting canceled, etc) I guess I'll just quit the hobby. Hell I can't afford this stuff anyway, and I sure don't need to have more anxiety added to my life. They're just toys, but they're damn expensive toys. Okay, rant over.

You WILL join my super secret Boy Band!!!

I haven't been following the situation so please excuse me for being ignorant but your mad because Fury sold out before he shipped? If that's the case, you need to understand that it use to be the norm for figures to sell out before release. That was why you pre ordered, so you could secure the figure. Its my understanding that most stores buy the pre order amount with maybe a few more to sell later. This keeps them from sitting on too much over stock.

Well in his defence.. he was honest enough to admit he can barely afford them and it causes him stress.

Toy Hunters in HK ever since DX08 Joker has been cutting orders really fast. A year ago, we could pre-order items all the way till release date, then it became 3 months after it was up for pre-orders. Now.. some figures cut pre-orders within a month. Avengers Black Widow sold out after 4 days after it was up. I also missed out pre-ordering Mark VII, cause they had us place down a US$130 deposit. I was gonna wait till my next pay check to order and boom.. they cut orders for that too..

I think what he's talking about is early sellouts when they clearly aren't sold out. Like Hawkeye and Loki. Loki is sold out and he doesn't ship till February 2013. This makes no sense whatsoever. I'll place an order once he gets released in HK and I guarantee I will get one from SS.

You clearly haven't seen the intensity of Loki fandom on the internet. My local dealer mentioned all his female regulars were going nuts over the Loki fig. I don't think Hot Toys expected it to be as popular as it is.

Hopefully they don't jack up the production numbers on him, let him soar a bit on ebay, and then brings those down again by finally releasing the Thor 1 version :yess:

You're essentially correct. I did not realize that this current situation was the norm. I've only been in this hobby for a little over a year. And recently my whole living situation has been turned upside down. Medical problems (and the surgery to correct this problem) made me unable to work.

So I'm on a super tight budget. I might be able to spend $250 THIS month, but two months from now I might not have any disposable income. So when preorder dates and even flexpay schedules change, it causes me a lot of problems. I can't afford to lose money on non-refundable deposits.

But I should emphasize that this is MY problem. I'm just complaining about how these current realities are bumming me out. These things allow me to take my mind off a lot of unpleasantness, and it looks like I just can't afford this hobby any longer. That's my problem and I don't want to sound like I'm indicting Hot Toys or Sideshow or Corner Store Comics. It probably seems like I am though. I apologize for that.

Its cool bro. I was just offering up some insight. Hope you don't feel it was an attack because that was not my intentions. Sucks that your having troubles. I personally feel that a lot of American retailers have been burned the last year or so because they over ordered. I'm sure brought on by stupidly high secondary market prices. I know it influenced me to buy an extra from time to time. Now that they are stuck with lots of over stock they are now reevaluating they purchasing which has led to pre orders selling out much quicker. Could be HT is cutting off pre order windows sooner then they have in the past too. :dunno
