Sorry about this being the Captain...but I found a tear in the gorilla vest. I'm writing to Hot Toys now...

I hope they crank out some chimps.

I can't say which I love most out of the HT gorillas, because I still have to order the soldier...but Ursus is my current favorite.

Ursus is my personal favorite. It is great to FINALLY have a general worth displaying.

I think the Gorilla soldier would be my favorite if only I liked the gorilla head sculpt better. I wonder what a Sideshow Gorilla would look like repainted and glued to all of that Hot Toys hair?

I think Ironman is working up the nerve to do this!

The soldier is my favorite out of the three. Although he has the same sculpt as the Captain, he comes with plenty of accessories.

I wish the gave the General a clinched hand, kinda like Vader's, for when he's giving his famous "THe only good Human," speech. I'm sure one will come eventually.

I've been kicking the beginnings of an idea for custom faces around for the last couple of days. Still fuzzy on the deatails, but it involves making a mold of the HT face plate for a wax rework. This is basically a variation on a trick we used a lot in the model shop. As I say, it's still VERY preliminary. Frankly, I think the boys are great as is;now that I'm used to it, I kinda like the "wild mane" look...PS

That sounds very cool.

Sideshow's? Not yet. I have other ideas for a few of them right now. I am working up the nerve, and patience, to try a hasbro rehair.

Check back thru the thread, or maybe it was the "Save" thread, Jess showed how the HT face comes off and a replacement can be attached.

I just might. I do have an extra SS gorilla. After getting the Hot Toys gorillas, the idea of stock piling SS gorillas doesn't have the same appeal anymore. However, that might make my son a little mad. Since I've received the HT gorillas, he has been eyeing some of my extra SS gorillas...:D

Good luck with the Hasbro rehair... I'm curious to see the reasons.

Geez...it's strange to think that I still have a whole set of the Hasbro 12" Apes still mint in box somewhere in storage. :horror:horror:horror

I see what it is now that seems only slightly off, and this doesn't stop it from being an amazing figure.
The Gorilla's brow area needs to stand out more, much further than the hair, which seems to envelop the face a little on the figure.
The height of the hair seems fine.

Jessica - What would happen if you gave your gorilla a haircut then used some of the cut hair pieces to "glue down" above his brow? They did that with Roddy to cover his wig line. :angelsmil

Super cool idea!! I'm still working enough nerve to cut the hair. If I could just find the exact fake fur in case I mess up I would cut the hair in a flash. It's just that there's no going back....

I was going to cut down the plastic of the gorilla's face...but I like your idea better!!

Cut! Cut! Cut!

You're such a crazy chimp. I can't believe you ripped his face off on day 1.

Maybe you could try painting his face first, bring that hairline forward? Regardless I can't wait to see what you do.

When I cover up the gorilla's forehead and his teeth with my fingers on the computer screen he looks so much better. Those 2 areas really bug me. I may have to buy one someday, just to fix it. You guys are taking way to long to fix this guy and I'm so impatient.

You're so totally right! He does look way better! I'm trying to focus on one project though...so you may end up buying one sooner than you know it.
