1/6 Hot Toys R2-D2 (Artoo-Detoo) - TFA Version

Not annoyed because this isn't OT. That'll be another 12-18 months down the line with another 6 months to release. Plus I wanted a second R2 for other display options so ultimately, good. Just a shame he'll be twice the price.

$200 at least now. But these are the features that many demanded. I admit R2 is probably the only sixth scale figure of any character that I would actually look forward to sound. If they don't ****** it up like Vader that is.

Ugh. $200+ for an R2. This is what it's come to. I LOVE the DC dome, but the sounds I can do without. Will have to think about this if it's in the over-$200 range.

Also, really want to see the size versus the SSC. SSC was too small, this is feeling a bit big. I'm looking for a goldilocks R2.

And yeah, the dome sculpt does look a little off in places, something in the "eyes" area, but overall I love the look of this R2's finish.

The blue looks like the CGI-added blue they redid R2 with (because the original blue looked very dark blue.) I do like the original darker blue better, but it's not a deal breaker.

I am keeping the sideshow though, it displays pretty well and R2 is probably the most versatile of all star wars characters. When you think about it he can be appropriately paired with about every other character reenacting one scene or another. But for $220 he should throw up that holographic map.

The price I am probably most curious about besides the blitzway ghostbusters is the gonk droid. How much will hot toys ask for him? $150? Over or under?

Looks stellar. And as long as the remote for the lights and sound effects works all the time, unlike Vader's, I'm all for lights and sound.

I just bought the Tamashii Nations C3P0
Kinda sucks because it cost $400 and HT could make a better one now.
I was going to get the SS R2 but I'll wait for this guy. Is it 100% diecast? [emoji7]

HT R2 will be superior to Sideshow in every way possible.

Why do collectors keep thinkingg "I'm covered on that" when something better always comes? Silly people.

Reality is we simply keep the best possible version till the next best comes along.

This one announcement kinda pissed me off, but now I’ve settled down!

It really does look great—the blue matches better and the dome is luscious. Love that it includes lights and sounds. Size looks better too. But someone brought up that it’s probably the TFA version and therefore won’t have any of the panels open or the “arms”, so if I decide to upgrade from the Sideshow version (which I’m still generally happy with), I’ll wait for a more “full” version.

I’m good with the Tama Threepio. It’s still great.

Price will be a huge factor into weather or not I get this. It definitely looks better than Sideshow's, which I have, but I've been very happy with the Sideshow version, and if this is anywhere near $200, I'll have to pass. I only payed $120 for the Sideshow version, and that felt fair, considering R2-D2 can only do so many things.

I'll pick this up. If the scale is good it'll look great with Tama 3PO. The Hot Toys 3PO will bug me having the silver leg. I'll wait for an OT version to consider for that.

To be honest, I sort of hope this doesn't have any panels. I thought that at a glance Sideshow's R5 looked fantastic, but the panels really bugged the hell out of me--on mine they were cut really poorly. Doesn't bother me on R2, maybe because they're cut better or because it's white on white they don't stand out as much.

Who even says were getting OT droids? These are good enough for me, yeah id prefer the silver leg but they'll do just fine. No-one other then me is gonna look at my collection and say hey awesome figures but 3p0's leg is wrong lol Ive been waiting for hot toys droids for a long long time.
