Likely not QC issue causing a delay. Expect this later this week or next week together with the Royal Guard. I don't think they will release them separately.

But Sideshow just sent out the 'delayed until Oct-Nov' notice yesterday.

If a second sculpt was being added, they would have had a blurred image to begin with I guess.

You are right about that. I don't really expect a 2nd head.

I only buy a handful of figures a year, and this year it's Tarkin/Vader, ROTJ Luke, ESB Boba, and the Emperor for me. I actually like the releases to be spread out a bit so I can spend more time per figure until a new one comes along and takes away some of that "newness factor" of the previous.
I also mod most of my figures, so multiple releases close to each other just means my WIP list keeps growing. I still haven't finished my ANH Vader that I got several months ago...

Yeah, having them spaced out is most preferable for me too. Boba Fett I’ve had a ton of time to check out and digest (like a sarlaac) since I got him early.

I remember Hoth Leia and Tarkin came out together and Tarkin completely overshadowed my interest in her unfortunately. Didn’t expect that as I felt they were somewhat on par going into it, and even went so far as to sell off my ANH Leia in anticipation of the Hoth version.

With Tarkin in hand I went out and reacquired the ANH Leia.

Yes. I concur. First thing I texted a friend when I got the notice -- hope they're improving the face (faces).

Still wishing beyond hope they throw in a 2nd head.

Maybe a second head with the Endor Luke accessory pack.

Maybe that's why there wasn't any announcement for the Royal Guards so far. Palpatine is a Royal Guard seller so having him released 1~2months after the RG is odd. Palps should be released first or simultaneously with RG to boost the sales.
Anyway my 2 RG will be kept in their boxes waiting for their master to be released

I think them holding the Royal Guard pics is unrelated but they definitely should have done the opposite release schedule to boost Royal Guard sales.

I'm sure HT would have liked the timing to go that way... but something went wrong.

SO reading through this, most people are happy he's coming late. I personally would prefer to have him now. But OK if they're using the time to improve the head sculpt or adding a second headsculpt then I'm OK with that. Very much doubt a second sculpt though.

But have they ever gone and done a totally different sculpt from the proto pics ? Pretty rare. I can't think of anything which was totally different, but I'm sure there must be some.

ANH Han was changed pretty significantly. But still the same base head most likely, just reworked.

To me, Jyn was changed inexplicably for the worse. But others disagree and say it’s just the paint.

Except for vader that's pretty much my SW figures for this year too...with the Emperor being my most anticipated since Tarkin..

Will this hold back the Royal Guard release?

The Emperor is one figure that needs a second sculpt the LEAST. I would have preferred to have a second sculpt on Jedi Luke.

I guess an Emperor with a gritted snarl, much like when he was using Force Lightning, but that head would be useless when using the throne.

Well I contacted my seller in Asia on this guy and the Guards. They told me they have a shipment coming from Hot Toys at the moment but they don't know what's in the shipment.....WTF ???

Look at what they did with just a repaint of Anakin's head. And people are thinking they're gonna give away an entirely new sculpt for free?! Thats not where this company is right now. Plus if there was a new 2nd sculpt, it would be promoted to the heavens. HT likes to hype up every single element of a product. The last surprise bonus I can recall is the red eyes for Spiderman and the battle damage armor for Mark 46. Neither of those were advertised. Since then they've been very stubborn. Like with Mark 50 over $400, people were expecting them to add some extras later on but they are adding nothing! Instead they want you to pay for an accessory pack for over $200 on top of the price of the figure.
