Hot Toys: Royal Guard

I wonder what's underneath the robe, same as the black series?

That's been the question raised here a lot. Hopefully not much under the robes so the price can stay low.

But who am I kidding. They'll probably be around the $200 mark either way.

HT doesn't want to cannibalize itself. So we might see these all the way to SDCC 2018 without a preorder.

But maybe if preorders are weak for the Praetorian dudes after the movie opens, then HT would offer these up.

Much like the Stormtrooper, this is one of those figures where I don't think I could ever have just one, it just wouldn't ever look right to me somehow. So it'll be two or nothing for me, I suspect.

Here's a bit more info from the 2018 Catalogue. Can see what's under the red robe. Zoomed pic is a bit grainy. But looks decent I guess. Probably won't see that if displayed like in movie.

Yeah, me either. The under garments take away the hope of a potentially cheaper figure. But that's not really an issue for me, I'm only planning on getting one.

Nice that they go the "full mile" though with the undergarment, rather than the "full monty"

Definitely need a 2 pack on this. They did it with Stormtroopers and snowtroopers so hopefully this will be no exception.

Yeah I think the only way to go is a pair of these. Shame about the emperor though. That sculpt still looks poor but usually if it's in the catalogue then it's locked in.

Hard to know. It’s a beloved design, but not as iconic as the Stormtrooper. However, HT probably won’t make nearly as many Royal Guards, so it could well sell out quickly!

No, but if they're in the catalogue I'd say it's not far away. Probably waiting for the TLJ hype to die a bit.

Yep, they were. And that does suck. However I don't think the Catalogue was the full finalised version. The pages shown seemed to stop pretty abruptly.

Previous years have come out in Jan/Feb, so let's see.
