I was hoping it was going to be delayed until sometime next year...
Me too. Luckily I did a payment plan, but the final payment is still around $200. I’ve lost my enthusiasm for this because where the hell am I going to put it? I need to go home, have some death sticks, and rethink my collection.

Sorry to bump but I wanted to open up a discussion on the HT Dewback.

I grew up with the OT so I'd love a Dewback in the collection but I just can't pull the trigger on this one. A few things are putting me off but I think it's the legs that are in the wrong positions. Has anyone else noticed?

Now I'm no expert in animal anatomy but I have studied animation so I look closely at movement and distribution of weight etc. The legs positions don't make sense to me. I'd be interested to know what others think. I could be wrong.

I've attached some images below to illustrate my point (sorry I don't know who the Sideshow Dewback image belongs to. I hope you don't mind me using it but it looks great and demonstrates my point).

The Sideshow version of the Dewback looks natural. The alternate legs front to back are in motion, font-right, back-left (just lifting).
The HT version has the front-right and back-right (just lifting) in motion (same side) with the left side feet flat and close together. This doesn't seem right. The Dewback's balance would be off.

Although it's not the same creature I've attached a clip of a gator/croc in a slow walk cycle (alt legs in motion). All these Star Wars creations are based on real world anatomy so it's a safe assumption that it will move in a similar way.

I think that in an effort to be different to the Sideshow version, HT have got it wrong.
The jury is out, in what shall now be known as Lizard-gait.

Thoughts please.

The crocodile walk is only true of reptiles whose legs are not directly underneath them. They use a horizontal swinging motion in their spine when they walk and their legs sort of rotate around that. But the Dewback is built more like a mammal with its legs directly underneath the body. Look at a rhino or elephant walk; its left, left, right, right. I imagine it's more efficient for heavier animals to throw their weight from side to side so the moving legs have momentary relief from the load. It's not always that way, but it's not strictly incorrect what they've done here. Imagine the creature lumbering side to side, front right first, followed by back right (they land in proximity to each other like what we see on the left), then it shifts its weight to the newly planted feet and repeats the motion on the opposite side.

Really? Regardless, it's almost November so Sideshow and other U.S. retailers likely won't get it until sometime in 1st Qtr. 2025.
I don't understand why it's taking so long on this one. They already have the molds for the Sandtrooper. Maybe if the quit releasing figures that went up for PO after this(yeah I'm talking about you, Reven) then they can get this out on time. Don't get me wrong, I'm happy for those that are getting Reven, but he shouldn't have released before this one

The price tag on this one, combined with a pile of recent releases and some impulse purchases during the Black Friday sale makes me happy to wait a bit for this one. It's going to be a beauty when it does arrive.

Don't really get that logic ?? Sooner the release announcement, the sooner retailers get it (even if there is a gap between the two).
Well, my post that you've responded to was over a month ago and this set still hasn't been released in Hong Kong, so it seems even less likely now that Sideshow will get this before the end of the year. And if they do, based on recent history it'll be just one that's sent over ahead of time for one of their "First Look" unboxing videos.

Plenty of opportunities to get very cheap Mandos now, even the chrome version, so reconsidering getting this for a Mando display. Chrome one isn't accurate for Dewback but looks the coolest.

Really wish I knew whether this one will be an on-sale item like the Blurrg or if it's going to be blink and you miss it one. So hard to tell these days when the last two Lukes (Snowsp and Bespin) go on discount.

I keep going to my Orders page to cancel the Dewback (iis a ludicrous item!), but the pictures are so awesome I can't do it. So ridiculously unnecessary but so cool 😎

Wondering if they're having issues with the Dewback. This is probably the release I'm most hyped for, hoping it doesn't end up sitting in delay limbo forever like the AT-RT.

That would be my guess. Even so, they could go ahead and release just the Sandtrooper, for those of us that only order him. I've had mine paid off except the tax and shipping since September now. Sideshow still has him listed for a November-December release even though they moved my final payment to December already.
