I wish the open lower jaw was a bit more parallel to the upper mouth - it has a bit of an odd open duck's beak look about it (like a reptile mouth couldn't actually close in that "single hinge" position,) but it may have had to be that way to achieve the swap-out effect.

It's such a gorgeous piece overall but beyond it in reality being 80-90% Mando Dewback rather than 1977 Dewback, the one thing I really don't like is the green fur choice (the Mando Dewback's fur is sort of greenish though.) The only thing green and shaggy from 1977 is dive-motel carpet.

Great observation on this being a hybrid Dewback, cobbling elements from the various Dewback designs. It's such a weird thing that there's been so many quite major redesigns of this creature.

I get that they're far more visible onscreen, but imagine if we'd gotten a half dozen noticeably different Tauntaun* or Bantha designs over the decades.

*Tauntaun feet did indeed get changed to three-toe, big claw t-rex type feet in the 1990s, around the same time the Dewback's feet got changed from rhino/elephant feet to.... yep, t-rex type feet. Even if, strangely, the Hasbro 6" scale Tauntaun restored the original 1980 feet.

What I really like about the HT version over the SS version is that the saddle and straps are separate pieces not directly attached to the Dewback skin whereas on the SS version they are sculpted/glued which makes it look like the old 12' inch Dewback from POTF.

Yes, the third Dewback is 12 inch-ish (little shorter) from POTF doll-like line of figures.

I think it was Jedha Patrol who pointed out the massive difference in saddle size HT vs SSC. HT saddle looks to be at least 3X bigger, but that probably just comes down to it being a Mando style saddle whereas the SSC one is the SE/PT saddle.. Neither the HT nor SSC saddle or belly straps are even vaguely correct for ANH, but the saddlebags sort of cover it.

I wish someone would have posted some closer side by side pics of the HT and SSC Dewback heads - the SSC head looks larger in relation to the body and the HT is the reverse, where it almost seems slightly too small for the more chunky body (even if it's possibly close in size to the SSC head.)
