Black and white photos really capture the strengths in those portraits, as they negate the paint issue completely. Nice shots!

If Hot Toys made the collar a bit puffier, then I'll be completely happy with it.

I really like this figure, hope it will battle its way through countless other prototypes to eventually make into final production.

At last....I have forgone all other Lukes in anticipation of the Hot Toys Snowspeeder Luke.

Hoping for a PO opportunity within 6 months

A shadowy balcony in Hong Kong, a hooded art director steps out of the shadows to address Howard Chan:

?At last we will reveal ourselves to the collectors. At last we will have revenge.?

The prototype for this looks pretty good, but I?m personally happy with the SS one on my shelf. If HT makes a new head sculpt and refines a few things on the release, I may upgrade.
While the unhelmeted head on the SS is pretty bad, the helmeted version looks great ( same goes for x-wing Luke)

I think this Hot Toys proto must just be a place holder to show there intentions. If it?s not then this is one of the rare cases where the SS production figure wins hands down.

They'll want the hat trick after spanking HT with their Darth Maul and Jawas.

The most embarrassing thing is those aren't exactly recent figures either. Hot Toys is all over the place right now from stunningly realistic figures like Krennic to really subpar releases like the Jawa set which should have been a walk in the park for them and then there's constant resuse of headsculpts to the point of mould degradation (witness Leia's slowly collapsing face as she gets more and more anorexic with each reuse - but to be fair Endor Leia is still a nice figure).

The white repaint/re-use of that cheapo, paper-thin Jawa base is a somewhat troubling sign.

Maybe they just needed a quick option for the display. They surely couldn't think people would be happy about using one of the most maligned bases ever put out? Surely........

They already have snowy bases from the Snowtrooper and Mando has a sandy version so this may be what he'll come with :(

Surely they wouldn't use something so cheapo on a $270 release, especially when they have molds from the Rey/BB8 base...:monkey3:lol

You'd think they'd have a few hundred of those snowtrooper bases sitting around for use with the Luke figure, wouldn't you?:monkey3

If I remember correctly, wicket had a different base last year at sdcc. It was switched when he went up for preorder.
Hopefully that is the case here.

Proto-Fight! Proto-Fight!

It happens, late at night, in the HT basement. First rule of Proto Fight Club?

I believe that should say that the first rule of Proto Fight Club is you never talk about Proto Fight Club. The second rule of Proto Fight Club is you NEVER talk about Proto Fight Club.

The third rule should be something about never sharing a proto photo on these boards lest it be dissected and ripped to shreds.

Fourth rule, every proto sculpt MUST look like Tom Cruise. :rotfl

Good points. Guess I was trying to be generous. Who can truly decipher the decisions being made?[emoji846]

Er... yes, and no. The base shown with the Wicket prototype last year was a cool (and as far as I know, unique,) FULLY sculpted rocky/moss landscape base with 2-3 ferny plants.

What was actually released is a standard rectangular HT stand with cardboard forest floor photo as a topper and a single ferny plant rock add-on part that attaches to one corner of the base.

If the same thing happens in this case, we'll end up with a margarine container lid as the Luke base.:lol
