Sophisticated use of a dynamic pole.

If anyone is looking for a replacement for the dynamic figure stand, I found this on Monkey Depot for only $1.99! The Snowtrooper stand needs to be taken apart (easy, only a few screws and some elbow grease) and the “plug” for the dynamic stand removed. The white stand/crotch grabber from Monkey Depot is a little too large to fit into the Hot Toys base, so I used a file to shave down the edges a bit and it plugs in pretty well (I stupidly tried to force it in at first and ended up causing some minor stress cracks to form in the base). The white wire “u-hook” can be kept or replaced with a black one from hot toys if you have an extra laying around.

Apoligies for the bump, I only just received an HT snowie after all these years. One thing I noticed is that most of the detail in "box" on the chest plate is painted rather than sculpted. Quite surprising but to be fair, at this scale and from viewing distance you wouldn't know. Can't wait to get back home so I can compare this, the Sideshow one, the Kenner one and my own CAD designed armour. I think all have their pros and cons but so far I think HT wins most areas. Sideshow one I noted many inaccuracies but it does still look great. The Kenner one has a unique chest plate design that more resembles the commander but for its time was actually a great figure. Can't wait to do a lineup of them all. Might try tracking down a Kotobukiya one just for completions sake

Edit: I also flipped the belly plate since it is upside down on the HT figure (only commander has it upside down)

No apologies needed. Congrats on getting your Snowtrooper. I have the Sideshow version. Still pleased with it. Enjoy the figure!:clap

Which parts do you mean should be sculpted? There is a greeblie (the inverted "L" with vertical black rectangle and squares) that should be sculpted but on the costume it's really just a thin piece of sheet steel glued on so would only be maybe 0.5mm deep or less in 1/6 scale. Other than the inverted "T" greeblie the rest is just painted on the costume.

The biggest problem I have with the HT is that they got the proportions and spacing of the red buttons/alum plate greeblie pretty wrong. The SSC is also wrong on that greeblie, but closer to accurate and easier to fix.

I made a hybrid of the HT and SSC snowies that I think looks the most like the costume, but the SSC has a pretty bad helmet sculpt (with inaccurate eyes and unconvincingly sculpted rubber cowl) and the chestplate overall isn't as accurate as the HT - a bit shallow in terms of the bend angles. And ugh those terrible, terrible SSC snowie hands look like they belong on a 1/4 scale.

Unfortunately HT got the backpack a little too small while SSC made it a bit too big (someone needs to make a "goldilocks/just right" sized backpack) and not sure either company quite made the trenchcoat long enough, but it's not really noticeable.

When I was looking at the props for my DIY CAD designed snowie I noted that those details were 3 dimensional so even it would be super subtle at 1:6 scale it would be accurate for them to be sculpted, which is why the HT figure having them painted on surprised me (normally HT sculpt almost every detail).

As for backpack, to get a perfectly sized on you might just need to get one 3D printed based on accurate measurements. Should be a couple 3D printable files around (including my own pictured below)

Biggest issue is the belly plate being upside down, very easy fix. Just remove belt, turn it over, put it back on. Done

Pretty funny timing that a couple of us finally got the HT snowie then the Mando trailer shows more Snowies will be coming...
Movie comes out 2026, figs ship 2028.

And even then you'll get Mando snowtroopers, not ESB snowtroopers. Lit-up red buttons on your snowie chest armor, anyone? :lol

I'm still miffed about the HT Mando Tusken (so far from the iconic ANH look) and Mando-ROTJ hybridized Biker Scout figures.

True true true but I actually think amando snowies look ok so far even if not ESB accurate. I mean, I now have the Kenner 90's Snowie, Sideshow Snowie and HT Snowie plus at some point I will put together a custom with my own 3D printed armour so plenty options for ESB of varying accuracy. Some Mando versions will be nice.

Totally agree on Tusken though. They looked best in ANH

SSC backpack is slightly too big, HT backpack is slightly too small, Hasbro backpack is scaled for a 6" figure.:gah:
HT will likely do a Mando movie version soon so maybe that one will have a correctly sized backpack. Or you can 3D print my Snowtrooper backpack at the exact size you need....
