Well the factors that would vary between them affecting sales as I see them would be: complexity of figure (Dredd wins), availability of existing collectibles (Dredd wins), and iconic nature of the character (Rocky wins in a landslide). I can envision Rocky pre-orders selling out while Dredd figures actually have to come in stock first before that happens, because I think the iconic nature of Rocky provides a much stronger incentive to buy than the fact that Judge Dredd looks cool. Dredd was a bad film, and is a fairly obscure comic character probably best known to folks in the UK or those who just happened to catch the movie on cable. Rocky is one of the true icons of film. And he's an action character, so I figure he'll be much more popular among action figure collectors than, say, Sweeney Todd.Dependz if there's a price difference, maybe, but same price, i'd say tie or edge to Dredd. I want Rocky but sadly it seems undermarketed, i'm delighted to see NECA tackling it. I do think a Rocky 1 would sell for the classic value like Reeves Supes but outside of that, not so sure.
But, there's only one way to be sure. Hot Toys--release the hounds! Or rather, er, figures.
