Hot Toys wouldn't produce any licensed 12" Star Wars action figure. However, as Sideshow have good relationship on affiliation with each other, Sideshow did ask lots of opinion and advises from Hot Toys on Star Wars product. The president of Hot Toys - Howard is actually a huge Star Wars fan.

One of their discussions is on the Clonetrooper of the future SS SW 12" military line with various color of variation on color pattern of armor.

With the stunning details of Hot Toys on their modern military and SPEC OPS. 12" figure for over 8 years, together with the sincere study on articulation, joints and shape of 12" figure, it make sense that Sideshow ask opinion and advises from Hot Toys.

The lovly Chubby Russian nesting doll might target their market on collectors that love deformed figure of going cute:rolleyes: . Thats the reason I didn't make the info. of Hot Toys Chubby series in here at the first place...:maul

Are SS and Hot Toys owned by the same corp? Why would you anticipate them dividing up the characters like that?

I just have this feeling sideshow does not want to make 1/6 armored star wars figures. Now that sideshow is selling hot toys figures maybe they will just leave it up to them.

...and Hot Toys also selling Sideshow figures in the market of Hong Kong...

Hot Toys won't make any Star Wars 1/6 armored SW figures, they just leave Sideshow, Medicom and even Gentle Giant of statue do their SW market. Hot Toys won't mess up the risk by joinning in the Star Wars existing market competition on 1/6 figure.

Hot Toys focus on other movie license 1/6 product with less competition.

I can't believe this thread made it to the 8th post without someone making the joke! C'mon a Star Wars toy with the same name as a partial boner!!!

I will buy at least one of these, just so I can say I have a Star Wars Chubby and then show it to people without being arrested! Good I love these East meets West language differences :lol :lol :rotfl

My first thought was Bill and Ted, sporting a full on robot chubby!

Unless they keep this line exclusively to heavier set SW characters, it's an immediate pass, But if they only make Porkins, the Six-Breasted Jabba's dancer (sorry, it' early and I can't remember her name) and Jabba for this line, I will feel cheated. I guess they could also include Lucas' cameo too.

I think these are really geared towards more off-beat collections. People who're into Kubricks, VCD....people like me! I get the general collectors market not digging these, but it's a smart move, if they make the right amount, they'll definatlly sell out. I think we're in a time where people want more than just your basic Star Wars collectable. It really is going to depend on price though. If it's too much, alot of people in the grey area will be turned off, but if it's priced right they might grab alot of fans off guard. Plus I think they're thinking past the American market. I mean look at Japan, they're WAAAAYYY more into the oddball items, like VCD's etc. So I think they're thinking global here, not just the basic American collector.

You are right! PosterBoyKelly!

Hot Toys promote this Star Wars Chubby series with affiliate to a shop in Japan - Blister toy. I believe this Japanese shop is not odd to all of you here. I have to ask Howard tomorrow for further reatil info.

See guy, lets make your opinion on this Chubby series here, I will pass this thread to Howard directly

I think it would help if we had more details about what they'll actually look like and how big they'll be. Price will be a big factor to collectors too.

And Roy, see if you can find out when we'll get the next HT Batman or Superman figure announcement! :D

So these will be the same shape and dimensions of many 501st Stormtroopers.

:lol

I think Palpatine would be a sweet one! I wonder what these will bemade of, vinyl or maybe a harder plastic? This is still a cool idea to me, so I'm pretty psyched!

It's way too early for an April Fool's joke. Howard, if you're reading this, stop the madness. Don't bring out your Chubbies...

:monkey3

Howard did read this thread and he reply:"I target this series on Japanese market"

That make sense cause not even me get the ad. flyer of this product, boba_jp from Japan got the flyer and provide the scan:

I think I definitely pick up the Darth Vader, as long as its not ridiculously expensive. I'm not a fan of SD, and all that jazz, but is a fun idea and like I said the idea of having a SW "chubby" is just too funny!

Any idea on the cost of these?

I think they are cooler than the VCD things. I'd buy them as long as they dont cost more than $40. :lol

You have to love the Death Star shaped like a gourd! :lol :rotfl :lol
