How many are you in for? I can't wait to see what you do with them.

4 Cases - 1 Dozen Solo troopers. I have a Darth Vader and a lost mouse droid desperately in need of some friends...

I can't wrap my head around the short trooper thing...ocd wins that round every time I try...I am hoping for a Luke /Han trooper pack later this year as exclusive...then I could handle a short trooper.

The first one is holding a flame thrower so it's probably some sort of fire trooper. Probably wear specialty armor just like snow troopers. The other with the half cape looks to be Gwendolyn Christie's character. I don't think these are too far off from what we're going to see.

I think its genuine, although I'd be more convinced if we see a picture of the Andy Serkis character.

Funny, the short trooper sort of makes it for me. But I see where you're coming from, I'm almost tempted to do an All Short display.

I had thought to stop at 6 stormtroopers but will likely rest at 5. For me the magic numbers for army (in my case "team" or "squad") builders are 2, 3 and 5.

Collector OCD has many variants. ;)

They look a bit too slick... Maybe the designs will grow on me. Quality of the movie will definitely have some sway too!

Same... they look like OMG cool troopers to me, but maybe they'll look better in action on the big screen.

Hey everybody!

I've decided to jump on board for a 1/6 collection of ANH figures. I grabbed the Tamashii C-3PO and the SS R2-D2. I've got a quick question for everyone. Do you think the Stormtrooper set will sell out soon? I definitely want the set of 2, but would kind of like to be able to wait a month in order to pay for other non 1/6 figures that are coming out right now (Masterpiece Transformers, 3rd party transformers and Soul of Chogokin). I've never collected Hot Toys, Sideshow, or any 1/6 scale figures before, so I don't really know what to expect timing wise for the best time to buy figures or how long I have before they sell out. Any advice would be very much appreciated.

You can always buy and put on flex and pay it off over the next 3 months. I'm considering getting them immediately or doing a 2- or 3-month flex.

I like to do nearly all of my collection buying with paypal (to help keep it separate from family finances) and like to pay for things all at once, so the flex pay isn't going to work for me. I'm just wondering if I really need to grab the Stormtrooper set now and the other stuff later or vice-versa. Some of the Transformer stuff has to bought now because I have the discounted imported pricing coupled with the favorable currency exchange rates that save me a ton of money. If everyone thinks the Stormtrooper set is going to be around awhile, then I can just relax a bit and buy some of the other things on my list now instead of later.

I think HT is going to make a ton of the troopers because they will always sell.

Doesn't matter what everyone thinks. They could sell out and skyrocket in price by next week, or they may be around for a long while yet, no one knows. I'd say that if you really want them, get them now while they are readily available. It seems like you collect many different lines so that is hard. So you have a decision to make if you are not willing to flex pay them. What do you really want right now? Good luck... Welcome to the boards! :)

Isn't there some kinda flex-pay type deal available through paypal as well? I've never used it but remember reading about it here.

If they're smart they will, but sometimes with these things it seems the manufacturers feel it's better for their business that there is a small window of availability and then others can make a killing on the secondary market. It's against all logic when it comes to capitalism (at least of the variety I know) but there must be some hidden benefit that I don't see with this quick-cash-grab economy where having nowadays.

I think they'll make a ton of troopers as well, but my concern is that that this particular set with the shorter trooper and the mouse droid will be 'one and done'. I really like having two different size ANH Troopers and that mouse droid is a nice extra. Since I'm not a troop builder, I want a nice varied set of two.

Thanks for the welcome.

Yes it is difficult with a few different lines going. In a few months my chogokin collecting will be done and I'm going to keep the 1/6 short and sweet with 10 ANH Star Wars figures and just a couple from the Marvel line. My Transformers collecting is just now starting to wind down to a few Masterpieces a year. This just happens to be a fortunate/unfortunate year where it's all happening at once.

I'm not aware of any flex-pay with paypal option. Some items you can preorder with paypal, just not the Stormtroopers.

Thanks for the replies. Still going to think it over a bit.

The PayPal payment option is only available when Sideshow is able to accurately calculate the shipping cost. So it may become available towards the end of the pre-order.

As for using PayPal as a flex payment source...I don't know for sure but I'd be happily surprised if you could.

Yes, you can use Paypal's 6 months same as cash option at SSC, its no skin off their nose, they get paid up front.
