I've been sold on the new designs since the first time I saw them, and already have a few figures in a couple scales to prove it. But these really seal the deal about how awesome these guys are gonna be. I have the Squad leader on order, but I might have to get the two-pack, too.

I thought the point of the exclusive was that it wouldn't. Might have to wait for the red/orange pauldron figure.

With the rest of the world getting a 'special edition' release it would suck for HT's local community not to get the opportunity seeming in the grand scheme it will be TRU ex, this ex and then the regular Trooper in supposed value... I'm betting if we see an orange version it will be the exclusive figure fr whichever toy fair is first next year (as recent to the film as possible but after everyone gets their white versions)
If they do one u may pick it up as well, considering a regular Trooper to go with him and maybe Kylo as don't know how deep I want to go with this film yet as they may keep the design like the OT and different versions may just come with variations on weapon)

Pretty sure anyone in Hong Kong had the opportunity to get one on Force Friday. Has HT re-released any of their other exclusive HK items again? I don't know, but based on some of the crazy prices I've seen for some of their really limited items, I'm leaning toward no.

The Force Friday release was limited to 300 at TRU I believe and only available to select customers who then had to win a lottery and that didn't even mean you would get one as the lottery was to get in the store not just get the figure... that is unless I have got the story wrong.

I've read multiple accounts of people asking friends in HK to stop by and pick up one of the 300 figures for them, but I hadn't heard anything about a lottery.

Every first hand acount from being there on the day says they went quick and they were lucky to grab one... those saying they were asking a friend to get one have been saying so hours or even days later.

No one is just "saying" anything. There are loads of photos posted from people who bought them here and on Facebook. No one has yet mentioned they had to participate in a lottery and I haven't seen a single mention of anyone saying they had a hard time getting him. At least 3 people, who all posted photos, have them in hand outside of Hong Kong and had a friend/acquaintance buy the figure for them. None of these three people are related as far as I know.
Another thing I haven't seen is anyone posting that they were there trying to get one and weren't able to. I did see people posting photos of the pick-up line/table with al the figures in bags at a time where they weren't yet all spoken for. The first confirmation I saw that they were sold out was hour after they first wen on sale, sometime late (at least into late afternoon) on the Friday (HK time).
Bottom line in any case, if you're in HK and want this figure, buy it from Sideshow or from Japan, otherwise, by all accounts, you're out of luck.

I had a friend go down but didn't manage to get one.
A reviewer on Youtube described the process he went thru to obtain the figure. He mentioned being a TRU member, purchase $x of Force Awakens merchandise then get in a lottery. Also not all in the lottery were able to get one as they issued more lottery tickets then figs. It was first come basis.....

The youtube video posted by a member here, best discribed as White Glove Man, told gis story of having to be a TRU rewards member, spending X amount of Money on Star Wars merchandise to qualify, then being placed in the lottery for 1 of 400 tickets to buy 1 of 300 figures. Sounds like a total cluster. Anyone that was lucky to get one, the odds were definatly against them.
