Hot Toys - TMS051/2 - Mandalorian and Grogu (Season 2)

Mando finally sucked me in with this version. I had been trying to avoid getting anything other than OT, but I really do love this figure. I opted for the regular version since I don’t need the extra pieces from the deluxe set. As long as my boy comes with the dark saber, and the two other weapons I’m good.

The Spear - Darksaber combo arsenal is an awesome visual, Either posed with both (although I don't think he actually used them together) or just visually loaded on his pack.
Then again so was the pulse-rifle.
Glad he still comes with them all, despite losing them in story.

It is odd, narrative speaking, he gets all these upgrades, gains the spear, yet then loses the pulse-rifle (in the RC explosion).
Then gains the Darksaber, yet then loses the the spear.
He can't keep anything!

Although melting the spear down to make the Beskar chain-mail for Grogu was charming, the somewhat contrived rational- Beskar isn't used for attack? -Almost wish he'd have argued- fine take the sharp end off the spear for the chain mail, and I'll keep the rest as a bō-staff melee, defensive and blocking weapon.

Then S3 he's replaced everything he lost, shows up fully loaded.
Either way I'm displaying him that way.
Also still want to add that "liberator" mini-gun (was that in his boot? his belt? under his hat?)

Also a shot of that "new" mini-gun. As far as I know we haven't seen it in his arsenal.

I look at the spear as a cool incremental upgrade, and at least we got some dope scenes with it in the short time it was around. It did become a bit redundant once he had the darksaber though, so I get why they scrapped it.

Honestly the fact that they got rid of it makes me think he’ll have the darksaber for a good while going forward, could be wrong though.

Hopefully, they seem satisfied with the new chrome paint tech, that they are extending to several exclusives.
HT: Chrome finish is the new Black, is the new Venomized.

For me the only HT chrome figure I have is Phasma, and I do not see any flaking, hazing, nor cracks.

Thanks! I had to sell my collection to help move across the country a bit ago, so I was debating rebuying the in stock mando, or just waiting for the season 2 one, so this def puts some points into the s2 category.

Apparently at Celebration Mando Experience props and costumes, that mini-gun/liberator pistol was labeled - Djarin's Derringer...

I know the Crest and it's contents were destroyed, yet would anyone like to see something done in the style of the Batman Armory, similar in a free standing set up of a Mando Armory/Weapons Locker, to display with this figure?

No, where did you read that?

last January there was word going around that it was releasing soon. Obviously it never did.

Any reviews on those new chrome troopers, how does it compare in hand to the promo shots? How does HT's supposed new chroming effect look like it will hold up? Application even? Packaging for wear? Any signs of rub off, flaking, chipping? Although Mando has much less, still curious?



Not seeing any significant indication of armor, weapons or gear update for Season3? ....yet!
Curious if this will turn out being the *definitive look, or there will be an inevitable "upgrade" version (new gear, armor, weapon, new Mythosaur signet, new "Manda'lord" regalia(I'm convinced he'll reject), towards the end of S3, and we get yet another version by season's end?


(for the record I also count the first appearance as the "definitive" look, so obviously this is all completely subjective)

Yeah Im sure he’ll have one more round of upgrades, maybe a matching thigh piece or something. I’m sure I’ll pick that one up to add to this and my durasteel version. I can’t stop now haha.

My thoughts to. Not only that but these other live action shows aren't doing nearly as well and I really hope it doesn't rub off on this either.
- Personally I did enjoy them for what they were but also acknowledge the difference in quality.
