I think it was a good idea to spring this one like this, you gotta want it.

:lol

I do want it, as do some other loyal SS customers. You can tell I want it because I have a WTB thread up now. And by the fact that I waited in the chat for 18 hours yesterday for any word of it going up before finally crashing. So I do get the fun of Spooktacular and that "sleep is for the weak." This situation just makes me feel like I am back in fourth grade being made fun of. Enough to rethink my collecting stategy. I mean I basically had credit card in hand for all that time, ready to buy. I expect to pay a premium for the Dracuala SSE when it comes available because I will likely be at work during B&W Friday, but did not expect to pay aftermarket on this one.

I'm :sick over the whole thing.

Oh my fellow Las Vegan, I wasn't making fun of you at all -- but I think the situation is a classic.

For something this limited, SS did the right thing.

Wasn't meaning to come off as angry at you. Just the situation that I'm facing if I want to pursue this piece.

If someone lists one on ebaY we were discussing bidding on it and sending MadCow to the seller's residence with an object that would strike fear deep into the core of just about any self respecting man....:lol. We could extend you the same courtesy. :p

I really wanted the WOW. Had it on order at one point, but cancelled. I'd have gladly paid shipping though.
I have one, but haven't opened it yet. I think I decided I'm going to sell it and put that money toward something else... It does look awesome though!

Sideshow has a way of testing its customers, especially during Spooktacular. How far will you go to get what you want? Sorry you missed the dio, but at least you know now what to expect.

I missed it too, and when I logged on the sight this morning my first reaction was a laugh --- kudos for Sideshow, sleep is for the weak! I think it was a good idea to spring this one like this, you gotta want it.

It is obvious to me I don't understand the economics of these releases. Given the number of people that want the piece, you'd think that one of 2 things would occur:

1) bigger ES (more supply) or
2) higher price (decrease demand)

Granted, you don't want an ES of 3000, but would an ES of 100 have been too much? I mean, you can look at Spook and see things like Orc Helms being given away for 2 years, so we know SSC doesn't always guess right as far as ES goes. But something like SSE Frankie vs Wolfman, only 50 pieces?!

..and hey, I'm not complaining one way or the other, I'm just curious about the whole process.

I would apprecitate that, except for the fact that I might be resorting to ebay because, even with the bad taste of the 1am preorder in my mouth, I really really would like to have this diorama.

But that cuts me off right at the beginning of the line. If I dont have this one, I won't be going after Dracula!

:(

It is about creating buzz too, which is clearly in SS's favor here. The first dio (and really the line as a whole) isn't their best selling series, and so to drum up more interest and please the collector (there are now 50 lucky ones) they do the SSE releases. It has worked for Marvel (Grey Hulk dio) and to a lesser degree Star Wars (faux bronzes); many of us have wanted another "grail" line to be released for some time -- this is just right!

I have been on both ends of these before myself, I got a Classic Spidey, Mummy SSE and Bronze Dooku; but missed Negative Zone, Grey Hulk dio, the faux LOTR and now this - to me it is the fun part of collecting ... the hunt!
