Well this is my first Spooktacular event and from what I've heard, anything is possible.

Question: for the chat random give-away, do they leave a comment in the chat room saying that you won a prize or do they email you?

The chat prizes are usually done in the form of an "instant" contest (meaning, a game or quest or other means of competing for the prize), and the winners are announced in the chat itself. Some giveaways are posted in the chat as clues to go look for something on the Sideshow site, and those are not usually announced in the chat, but may be announced later on the contest winners page of the site.
