1 Awesome.
2 Great but a sellout. Knee shots and a thumbs up spring to mind...
4 Idea was right but had no holocaust meets cyborg drama. Lacked any tragic inspiration. Worthington's terminator being more advanced than the current release terminators was STOOPID!
3 Fanboy wank. It doesn't exist.

Can someone please explain to me the reason for all of the hate against T3? Am I the only one that liked this movie? Granted compared to the other movies it does belong at the bottom of the list, but that's not because it was a bad movie. All of the others are just better than that one.

-unwanted retread of the basic premise of the first 2 films

-Poor casting

-Too much humour...or attempt at humour "She'll be back"...and that was said for the benefit of who? Oh the viewing audience. Thanks. Thanks for taking me out of the movie.

-insulting and ridiculously coincidental cameo by Dr Silberman just for laughs

-no Brad Fiedel score

-T-850 written too similarly to the T2 T-800, the latter had an excuse for why he was the way he was and the things he came out with - being in the company of a child, T-850 seemed to have everything pre-learnt.

-stupid Zombie T-850 scene was missed opportunity to show us a Terminator more akin to the T1 T-800

-the absurdity of TX being able to control non-computerised vehicles.

Theres a few of my reasons anyway.

NEED more.

- Talk to the hand followed by "funky man"

- T-850s facial expressions, especially after "RELAX" (was Arnold even trying?)

- Strip club

- "Talk to the hand, wait your turn _____" (the T-850 talks to the hand no less)

- Elton John sunglasses

Stupid.

:lol Those scenes were really cringeworthy. They humanized him too much in that film.

Yeah, those all are valid reasons... hmm, I guess the awesome ending just made me overlook all of the that.

I mean, them finally giving in and saying that Judment Day is unavoidable and finally going through with it was epic in my mind.

Yeah. That kind of stuff belonged in some MTV awards Terminator spoof, where it would have been funny, not an actual Terminator film.

My most favorite has always been T2...
and follow very closely by T1

Many years later, after haven't watched both films for a long time (hadn't bought DVD yet that time), I saw T3 in theater with high expectation and thought it was OK. I felt that it was not as good as the first two but still watchable.

And last year, TS was launched and I saw it in theater with no expectation (what could you expect from McG?). But I still felt it was bad. It was too dark and dull and I did not care about characters' fortune during the movie.

So when I got out of theater, I ranked my favorite terminator films as: T2, T1, T3, and TS

(Oh, now I have saw T1 and T2 on DVD for many times)

However, months ago, T3 was shown on free TV in my country and I saw it once again. This time I felt it was so awful. It contained many stupid jokes and looked like a T2 parody for kids. The acting, atmosphere, CGI and costumes were all bad. I also hate even the T-850 character. So now I rank them like this:

T2 (legendary)
T1 (genius)
TS (bad but still watchable when compare to T3)
T3 (suck)

I felt the part of him smashing the car again and again absurd as well.

the only thing good I liked about T3 was that is made a nice line of figures from McFarlane and may or may not have played a role in generating renewed interest in the franchise for companies like NECA and Hot Toys to make the current items we see today.

The first time you've shown your age my friend!

A guy can dislike T1, right? I just never got into it. Like Bezzerkerr said, T1 was a bit of sci-fi/action/horror, which just didn't seem to work with that kind of movie. It wasn't on as grand a scale as the others, and I didn't get the impression that what was going on there would change the future or had any importance. It just struck me as two people running around from a killer eyebrowless robot. IMO, it was more of a slasher flick with guns instead of knives and machetes. T2 I could take much more seriously, and believe it or not, same with T3 and TS. I'm just giving my opinion and respect those that will disagree. Those are just my thoughts.

The things you mention - smaller scale, almost slasher type movie - are probably some of the very things that make others love the first film, along with seeing Arnie as the bad guy for once. Personally I also love the dated effects and animatronic arnie! They just have a great 80s charm about them. Those and the score - synthesisers and such. The music was very ominous, not just the usual main title Dun-dun dun Dun-dun that people associate with Terminator, but that low constant dunununun dunununun whenever the T-800 was onscreen.

Well anyway, of course to each his own. :peace

Thats the way I have always though of T1. Great sci-fi horror flick while T2 is a great summer blockbuster action flick. Two different movies that work perfectly.
