How durable are detolfs?

I bought some last night and am putting them together today, and I have a couple questions:

1) Does it matter if I put the feet on or not? I think it would look nicer and be more stable without them. Do you detolf freaks have the feet on or no?

2) LOTRfan - Where did you pick up those lights?

thanks!

Kabukiman - I think LOTRfan is usin nonlights from IKEA...

Here's a couple more Detolf-collections:

Is that your setup? It's beautiful!

Love all the LOTR stuff in the detolfs and I am not even a LOTR fan. When properly displayed, any colllection could be made to look absolutely stunning.

I' m thinking of getting some deltofs to be freestanding (i.e. not up against a wall). Anyone have any displayed like that? I want to put them in front of a large window area, but still be able to walk around them to operate the blinds.

Like Shai said, they're perfect for 12" figures! :rock

I just put my Vader PF on one of the shelves and I'm not nervous at all. Although the shelves are rated for 13 lbs, there's a safety margin built in.

They aren't as stable as a solid oak wall-unit obviously and are a little wobbly because of the high center of gravity and lack of a solid frame but a cat couldn't knock them down. One of my kids ran into one of mine and although it gave the stuff inside a good shake, everything was fine.

I had my first one in a spot where you can walk in behind it but I don't have a picture of that setup but it looks fine. You can display stuff in it for a nice walkaround view.

I've said it before and I'll say it again, the is absolutely the best value you can get in a display case.

I put them together without the little feet. I'm really impressed how good they look. I have them on opposite sides of the new ikea tv stand I bought. It looks nice to me, but nowhere near as nice as the pictures that were posted so far :monkey5

The wife won't let me put PF's on the shelves because she's worried about them becoming "top heavy" Maybe when I get more PF's I'll be able to distribute the weight evenly.

If any of you were wondering, Jason *barely* fits :D

Now I just need to find these non-lights. It will probably be a while before I make the 4 hour round trip to ikea again.

At my IKEA they are right next to the Detolf stock, and yes I am using the NON lights. I think they are $10 for a two pack.

LOTRfan, so these non lights I am guessing were designed for the detolfs, or the detolf was created for use of said lights? Having said that, if that were the case, why weren't they included with the product? I ask this even if it meant raising the price another 10 dollars. It's already a great buy. At ten dollars more it would be just as good of a purchase.

I don't know it's only $10. :monkey3

The Detolfs have a hole at the top of the cabinet that you can either fill with supplied plastic plugs or use to mount the light and wiring. I haven't found a way to integrate two light per cabinet yet, (I didn't want wires inside the cab) so I just use the two for two Detolfs side by side.
