Not to step on anyones toes, I know folks are excited, and hey im a newbie here, but seriously theres 5 threads for obi wan right now alone and he hasn't even gotten to anyone yet. I'm sure there will be a 6th (Obi Wan Images) thread as soon as he does. How many do we really need to discuss one figure? I know the threads can get very active but come on guys... its hard enough to find out whats been said without having to track through multiple threads about it.

This has happened before, and maybe here it's just normal practice, most forums i regular, you just make one thread about a subject and stick to that thread to discuss it... keeps everything in one place....

Soooo.... am i the only one who thinks this way? I know cohete noticed this trend too, he and i both regular another board and so we have a similiar view of how discussion could be held... it's just a thought... maybe folks could voice some opinions on it... maybe im in the dark about some preference for creating new threads instead of just sticking to one or something heh.

So you go and start #6???

There are usually alot of threads on figures, mostly because they get so big and bulky having different threads for different topics about the same figures is easier.

I can understand the humor, but i wasn't speaking just about obi wan, but how this seems to happen with alot of figures. Theres a couple different plo koon threads and hes just barely been announced.

I'm just saying, it all seems a bit excessive and unessecary. But whatever.

Well I think the different threads are alot better than what they do at sites like rebelscum where they have a certain thread for each thing and they dont let you post anything outside of them.

Its probably easier to just make one thread, numerous threads on the very same topic causes alot of clutter, plenty of other forums do the same exact thing by limiting the number of threads that comment on the same issues to just one
thread.

I'm not terribly fond of the rigorous policing of forums as is the practice in some places. They tend to frustrate me.

Mods will combine threads where appropriate, but "The sculpt Rocks!" and "The sculpt sucks!" are 2 different subjects. "I just got Obi-Wan" is an entirely differnt topic than "Obi-Wan images".

And maybe it's because I'm a newbie here too but I agree with Magnuz. It's kinda confusing. I mean... I don't have the toy in my hands yet so I'm not on the "sculpt/paint sucks" nor am I on the "it's great" bandwagon. If it's a thread about sculpt and paint, it's the SAME THING. We discuss, we debate. Don't need a thread for the people to like something because another thread is mostly negative. It's kinda like "well.. you haters can go over there. I'm going to play in this corner so stay out."

I'm all for having a new thread for different topics (especially one for images) but 5threads is a bit excessive.

In my opinion.

This forum is the polar opposite of rebelscum so if you're looking for some more "policing" I'd check them out over there. Especially since you've got a lot of the same posters and ALL the same arguments. :lol

This forum is actually a breath of fresh air to me after spending most of my SW surfing time over the last year or so at RS. Then, when I get tired of the multiple threads or whatehaveyou I just head back over there.

You will never find me at rebelscum.

I can't stand "thread police" who delete anything that's been talked about over the last 3 years. They expect you to seach 2,000 threads and post in threads that have 2,000 replies.

While I agree that there do not need to be 5 threads on the SAME topic on the front page, who cares if some similar stuff is talked about?

Any particular reason? I like it over there just as much as here. It's just different styles of administration.

I hate both really. :lol

I hate having 20 threads on any one thing. Mostly I think new threads are started by self important people that think thier thoughts are so important that it deserves and entirely new thread. (but that's JMOP and if you want I can start a new thread about it)

OTOH I hate it even more when I have to look through up to 100+ different pages of a thread just to find what I am looking for just because the forum mods like to rule with an iron fist.

In the end I will put up with the "my opinion is more important then yours people " and however annoying the multiple threads are becuase it saves me time.

It's not the administration of the site it's the juvinile yet pompus attitude of the super nerds over there. The elitist holier then though attitude while also being two faced about flipping/scalping. It's the hypocracy that annoys me.

I am a memeber there as well and there are plenty of good people on that forum. Unfortunatly the bad apples make me not want to go there much anymore.

Prett much sums it up. I didn't want to turn this into a "why i hate rs" thread so I'll bite my tongue on how I really feel about the place.

And just to throw it out there, I'm not asking the moderators here to delete threads or rearrange things. I'm just agreeing with what Magnuz said and it's just more of a request to the other members here to not start a new thread on something that's already being discussed. Just a common courtesy or something.

that is all, thanks! you guys rock!:D

I think there should be one big thread to discuss everything. :rotfl

Jesse's post pretty much sums up my feeling. But to add to that, I don't mind either really, one thread or multiples on the same subject. After all as long as people keep coming back and reading it's all good. Forums should be fun. :wave
